  • @Dan-The-Man

I wasn't aware of the convo you have quoted there, I was talking about this one and Hendo, but fair enough. On the other point it's not false. I haven't lost £1, I still hold him. If you think he will stay at the price he currently is or, more to the point, that I would sell him at this price then you are wrong. I haven't lost anything, except potential opportunity. And that could be said of any investment. If you put money in one player you are missing the opportunity to put it in another. This is gambling, you have to choose your opportunity. One of the opportunities I have opted for is a player that will consistently produce cash for me to take other opportunities and who will, in my opinion, go up in price too.

If your overall argument is that there are better investments than Pogba at any given time over a given time frame, then you're quite right. The same argument can be made about any player on here. Sancho was a shit investment between the end of March and the end of June. Stagnant, dropping even. No divs. Worthless. Nobody is great all the time on here. But Pogba gives you divs most of the time, and because you are holding for divs, NOT CAP APP, he is a worthy investment.

If your argument is that Pogba is a bad investment for the coming season in general, then you're just wrong, unless you think he is leaving this window.

  • @Sill7 I could instant sell my port now and still have made multiple times what Pogba has returned divs in a year.
The never ending thing of a lot of Pogba holders blowing his trumpet and questioning why anybody would sell him is frankly boring and is just a huge never ending pump.
Holding Pogba is not the quickest way to maximising profit on here end of. But as I’ve already said his yield is great and if you want to passively watch your 30% come in it’s not bad business. Just don’t get caught holding the day it’s announced he’s leaving in January or next summer.

But if u spent the pog divs on ferreyra they'd have earned you over 100% and then pogba will payout again and again and again over next 3 years.

With Doherty you have to sell to get any money back, then keep getting good buys. It's like betting on roulette and covering every number except the green goblin 0. In this booming market you can keep getting good cap ap, but eventually youl land on 0

    Well 2 things there mate.

1.) If you bet your Pogba stake money on Ferreyra instead of the divs... you'd have made 100% of your Pogba money instead of 100% of the 0.2% dividend payment. By tying your money in up in Pogba, you lost that opportunity.

2.) You're right, I can't pick the Doherty every time but by that same token, you can't pick the Ferreyra every time either. So the Pogba divs you won, could just as easily be diminished. All the while though... your Pogba futures are depreciating as he approaches the 3 year hold limit.

Pogba is the stable cash cow where you can use the returns to spread on ipd and cap ap targets

That right there is the trap though buddy. Look at the numbers in the spreadsheet... he's lost money over the last 3 months not gained money.

  • @Timothee-Atouba you, like dan, miss a huge point. Whatever you are investing in instead of Pogba, I can invest in with my Pogba divs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as I say it allows multiple streams.
Lets say Volland is injured for a season tomorrow and Leverkusen state Alario or Pojanpolo is now first choice... how do you jump on that trade as it's now huge value added? You have to deposit, or sell. I can just put my div winnings in. The returns are so frequent on Neymar and Pogba it allows me a very flexible approach.

you buy 10,000 Doherty at 40p and he's worth 70p and you are sitting on paper profit … but you then need to sell hundreds/thousands shares to move money... then if you make one bad decision you lose a chunk of your capital.

I can put 5k in Pogba and ignore his paper value … as he keeps giving me cash -> I reinvest the cash in all kinds of players with different strategies... so 6 months down the line I may now have 100 players while you are still transferring 10,000 Doherty into 15,000 Henderson then into 3000 alcacer… needing to make a good decision every time.

hes lost nothing, his current value today is meaningless - he could be £10 in a month... he could be £5, that only matters when I decide to sell... but I have made £800 cash off him... that cash has bought me vanaken (300% cap ap when I sold) El ghazi (280% cap ap when I sold) Ferreyra (Currently 116% I haven't sold yet)

  • @Vespasian32 said in For any new traders out there just buy pogba:

Just as it isn't a sensible strategy for someone with £40 to buy 5 Pogbas .. its not sensible for someone with £5k plus to buy 20,000 Doherty. It skews the base price of a cheap player too much … too hard to sell... high risk timing it right.

That's a false choice though mate.

You don't need to buy 20,000 Doherty, because there's an absolute wealth of players growing on the market.

I bet you could give me 20 players who will grow to spread that across with a fairly high success rate.

Sorry mate but you're kidding yourself.

Your Pogba futures will expire. There does come a point where you have to cash out. So you can't just say... "this £800 is profit". It's not profit until you cash out your futures in Pogba or surpass his stake money in dividend payouts, at which point, only the bit that surpasses his stake money is profit.

  • @Vespasian32 Forget maximisation. Can you or can you not park your thousands on Pogba somewhere for a better return?

  • @Vespasian32 Furthermore, I needn’t sell anybody if I’d like to “jump on” somebody. I’ll just deposit.

  • @Dan-The-Man said in For any new traders out there just buy pogba:

When you say, you'd never sell. I say this friendly... wake up mate.

I didn't mean or say that I would never sell. I was talking about now, as you were.

ah so you have a bottomless pit of money and a pet unicorn. good for you

  • @Timothee-Atouba that is @Vespasian32 whole argument for Pogba. Not everyone can deposit 100s of £ every time they want to "jump on" somebody, hence why if you hold Pogba/Neymar, they constantly win divs and putting money into your account, allowing you to then "jump on" somebody. That is his thinking if I'm correct

  • @Vespasian32

Your shares of Neymar are bigger then my whole port 🤓... and that why we are playing in different leagues mate! Two completely different ways to make money... anyway, can I ask what % of divs yield you reached from first day till now cuz mine is about 3% (£250 divs, port £7.5k) 🤔

I regularly come up with gems.. but each gem rises quick then will stagnate when they find an appropriate base price. its exhausting and for my risk adversity only ever going to be a portion of my portfolio strategy. If you can afford the elite players, id advise allotting a portion of your port to them.. they will consistently return cash - whether they are injured, on strike, off form etc.

So let’s put our 4p from yesterday out of a £7 odd player into other players when you could just put your Pogba outlay into players that are likely to appreciate?

Ok... so when will you sell?

    • He's getting older every day which impacts trader interest.
    • The date he leaves the Premiership is getting closer by the day.
    • The date the media find a new star is drawing closer by the day.

    When do you get out?

Bare in mind... he' lost over a pound per future in value since April.

  • Why don’t Pogba holders just enjoy their yield instead of pumping him to bursting point and questioning the sanity of anybody that sells.
When there’s a new thread every couple of weeks about him being ‘dumped’ it could be telling people something.

  • @Timothee-Atouba said in For any new traders out there just buy pogba:

but you do that once - what if some are stinkers … there is no additional revenue stream. Pogba can make cap ap, he can win pb, he WILL win MB and provide frequent cash to fund your other strategies and purchases.

  • @Dan-The-Man @Vespasian32 @Timothee-Atouba
The way I see it you're all right. There are different ways to make a profit on FI and many things determine what is the best strategy for an individual - money available, time available being 2 key factors.
I don't see why the choice has to be one way or another - a good diverse portfolio will take in all parts of the market as we all know how quickly the trends change. What do you think happens to the likes of Pogba if FI announce a dividend increase in the next few months - he'll rocket!

  • @Vespasian32 Of course everybody will at some point land on a stinker but over a period of time everybody on here will know if they’re capable of putting Pogba to better use elsewhere or not.
I’m sure you are, some of your input on the forum is very respectable. But if you want to get that Pogba revenue stream which as I’ve already said is a good one then it’s not a bad tactic.
Just the constant pumping gives me the hump!
