Why The Difference Between A Goal And An Assist?
-
Why does a player who scores a goal get a massive increase whereas a player who scores an assist gets no increase?
I’ve just been watching the Lyon - Zenit game. Azmoun has just scored for Zenit and his price shot up by 8p. However the assisting player Dzyuba hasn’t moved. Both players earn a 1p div for there goal/assist so why don’t people buy the assisting player as well as the goal scorer.
This is something I’ve noticed whenever a team score. So where is the logic in this? Or am I missing something?

The longer I'm on FI the more I realise there really is no logic to the market!
-
Azmoun is 24 and Dyzuba is 31.
-
@Moukoko True, but he’s also double the price. So if you’re buying for divs he’s worth twice as much.
-
@Andy-O OK. Double the spread, and pretty much unsellable, therefore dividend is worth half
-
@Moukoko This was just an example though, it happens with every goal, regardless of age, spread or anything else.

I'd imagine it's because goals are easier to confirm. If Soccer Saturday or something is on and there's a goal then they'll yell you the scorer but not the assisted until they go to their reporter at the ground by which time it's often too late. Flashscores notifications will come up with the goalscorer first etc, plus there's always the chance that Opta won't credit an assist where most others would.
-
You get more points for a goal, so the players PB score will be higher I guess, which opens up more dividends
-
@StevieP I thought that myself but it's a moot point at this time of day

This. People look to buy on the goal then sell straight away for a few pence a future profit. So it's a fastest finger exercise. Every second counts.
So if your watching live or counting on app notifications then the goalscorer is easier to confirm.

If you buy in play you're not eligible for PB
