Hold or sell

  • I’ve got 130 holds in KDB at £3.26, he’s now at £4.97 at time of writing.
I did initially plan to hold until Euros, but am wondering just how much higher would his price increase.
Would you sell now for a profit of £220ish, or keep hold until Euros and stick the the original plan I had?

  • @Andy me personally would sell as hes only 1 (inevitable) injury away from a drop!. Hes got to make the euros by staying fit, that's his biggest threat. Quality player mind....

  • I’ve got a similar dilemma I’ve got an average price of £3.11, he makes me nervous cause he’s so injury prone, but if he stays fit he will definitely justify his price. But I dread to think what would happen to his price if he got injured looking at how the markets been recently, it’s basically a straight gamble about if he stays fit

  • Trust you instinct. Great player, but is injury prone. 🤔

  • Hold, for fucks sake. Just hold. Safe as fucking houses. Why is everyone looking to sell these days?

  • @ChazFI123 yeah, agree with what you say. It is basically a straight gamble as to whether he stays fit or not

I don’t really see a problem with what I said about considering selling him. I’ve justified my reasoning - planned to hold until Euros at the beginning of the season, but I didn’t predict his astronomical rise in price in such a short amount of time. I think it’s sensible to at least rethink strategy when I’ve made over 50% on him, when that money (we’re now talking about £600+ off a £400 investment) could be better spent elsewhere
If he had only risen 50p in the past month, then yeah, I’d definitely hold, but when he’s risen so quickly, I’m debating so I take the money and run or do I hold

  • Overpriced IMO, the players around him (not counting youth) win both PB and MB, KDB isn't a MB player and 11 all time PB wins is good but it's not £5 good. 28 isn't that young, if he was a year or two younger I think it's a fair price, injury worries too.

  • @Andy I guess it depends how long you’re looking to hold him for, if it’s over a year, even if he got injured he would still be able to have enough time for his price to recover. I will probably end up holding as currently his PB scores are just ridiculous, and as long as that carries on his price will hold and even increase

  • @ChazFI123 true. I never planned to hold him after Euros anyway, I bought phil foden as my Man City long term hold earlier this season. Part of me is just thinking how high is KDB’s ceiling and how soon will he hit it.
I’ve thought about lumping all the money into James Maddison, as I do genuinely think he’s off to Utd next summer

KDB is one of the best players in the world, playing in one of the best teams in the world.

His PB scores this season have been phenomenal. If he remains Injury free, you are onto a winner.

But personally, I would looking to secure the profit you have made.

His injury record speaks for itself. You could sell now, and wait for his next injury, then get back involved.

I don't currently own KDB, but I'm sure I am not the only one waiting for his next injury to then get involved. He is world class.

  • KDB has had one poor year (2018/19 season) in terms injuries and he was brought back too quickly which led from one issue to another.
With that said profit is only profit after you sell.

I'm holding on for 3 reasons - City will go far and deep in most competitions; Belgium will do well in Euro 2020 and I feel a dividend increase will happen by summer 2020 making premium players more valuable

  • @Andy something that's worked for me if a player has risen alot quicker than I expected is to sell enough so you take out your original investment and leave just the profit that way if anything does happen in terms of an injury you don't have to worry about it as it's not your original money. Yes this leaves you with probably not many shares but you will still pick up divs in meantime I expect. If he still continues to rise your profit picks up more profit but you can also get out and get on someone else eventually if you felt you've made enough. I don't do this for every player but I have done it on a fair few.

  • @Andy i would keep ..i may sell just because i only have 50 of him when i joined the index in june as i was feeling the process out i wish id bought a ton more now but will do next summer....
im tempted to sell as i bought him at £2.34 & now worth 4.97 with a profit of £131 like others say he does get injured so could be a significant drop but its how you feel..
gotta ask yourself why you bought the players is it short term gain or the 3 year long haul

  • @Andy be careful mate, as I think Maddison has the transfer next summer already built into his price a little as purely based on PB terms he shouldn't be that close to KDB price wise. If Leicester wanted £80 million for Maguire I think United would have to fork out £100m+ for Maddison as he's younger and in a more attractive position. I think the transfer makes sense, but I don't think he'll play at the Euro's as Southgate prefers Mount and I think Leicester might price United out of the move
