I might be in the minority here... But news is news and media is buzz... I would be more than happy (even if i'm not a Vardy holder) for a story that doesn't involve football to be added as buzz.... but perhaps these sort of stories should score NEGATIVE or at least very low rather than positive compared to something like.. 'WINS BALON D'OR' or 'JOINS' or 'TRANSFER'...
I'm sure for every POSITIVE keyword that FI add we can also add a few negatives like 'THREE IN A BED' or 'ROMP' or even in this case quite simply.... 'WIFE'

@dannypea I think these should count tbh.
I do think the uncertainty of will they/ wont they count hinders trading and is an additional problem for MB. If FI provided clear rules on whats in and whats out then I'm sure they would be getting more MB trading - particularly when cheaper players involved like this.

@dannypea I agree. If it's in the papers it's in the papers. All stories should count, even crime. Then there are no subjective decisions made.

There is NO WAY that these should count. I'm still fuming that I didnt get my Bernardo Silva MB payouts for the FA charge (100% football related). This is just title tattle gossip from players wives.
Absolutely 100% not football related.
FI have made their bed by already selecting what they think is MB worthy and what isnt. So lie in it. If this pays out MB for Vardy, it rocks confidence in FI even more at a delicate time.

WAG -100@dannypea I may have to go back to the master thread but I'm pretty sure negative scoring words are just flipped to the equivalent positive number. So for example the headline "x player injured making sex tape with WAG" would actually be very favourable for MB unless I'm mistaken

WAG -100This is how it already works to an extent. There is a full list of key words here https://github.com/fnielsen/afinn/blob/master/afinn/data/AFINN-en-165.txt
Negative words are included and then if the total score is negative it is halved and flipped to a positive before the 20 points are added for being named in a story. For example today Messi is winning and his highest scoring story is 80 points with a lot of negative words in there. "Fraud" is -4 and "leave" and "no" are both -1 to give score of -6. This becomes +3, add on the point for being mentioned and multiply by 20 and you get the 80 points.
Obviously it doesn't include things like club names (except United being worth a point) but at least it is objective and you know where you stand with it.
