I'm new to FI & I'm 6% up in 6 weeks.

  • I've only been trading for 6 weeks & after a few initial hiccups I'm beginning to get the hang of trading now. However, I do need some advice on players that just aren't working for me atm. For example, Alonso is down 14.4% & Sturridge is 21.85% down. Would you advise to hang on to these players or cut losses & invest in players that are making decent gains? Thanks in advance.

  • @NewUser116861 players prices fluctuate so much my advise would be never sell for a loss. But wow sturridge what were u thinking😵 that might be one to just cut and run hel never play regularly again imo

  • @Simon-j am hanging on the theo hernandez because I refuse to sell any for loss its only £15 -
16p but the way I think if I never sell at loss I can never loose lol wel I hope😁

  • @Simon-j Thanks for your advice. Yer, Sturridge was one of my initial 'hiccups'!

  • @NewUser116861 don't want to lash on your parade but don't forget the Index itself is probably up 6% too in that time as it's flying :-) but that just confirms you're in the right place ;-)

As for the players you mention, Sturridge - waste of space in my opinion, suspect attitude, terrible work rate and why he joined the long ball/set piece specialists who are in deep trouble baffles me!

Alonso is a different kettle of fish - one of the best strike rates for a defender in Europe, Chelsea are in dire straits at the moment but I think Alonso is as solid as they come for FI purposes. (unless you meant Xabi of course ;-) )

  • @NewUser116861 repeating my mantra again. Have some patience. It will be worth it. Alonso will definitely rise again. He scores goals and will pick up buzz wins. Chelsea just need to start getting some form back. Maybe a change of manager will improve that but even if he leaves Chelsea his price will rise due to transfer speculation.

Sort of have to agree on sturridge though. He's useless but might be worth keeping because he's English and the index loves English players.

    Good luck anyway.

  • @Agatello Cheers for your advice :)

@Simon-j just a tip mate, if you click on reply within your own message it makes it look like you're talking to yourself (maybe you are, if so that's fine and cool with me :-). Only mentioned it because I've been thinking there's 2 Simon J's :-/)

    3 signs of madness

1.... talking to yourself on FI Forum
2... thinking you have actual shares in players
    3... buying Milner or sissoko

  • @Chicken-Badge not sure what's worse, buying Sissoko or actually playing him! It's the only thing that makes me believe that Poch is actually human ;-)

  • @Stevo Thanks :)

  • @Agatello gotta love Poch!

  • @Agatello aye I know I should just edit original message but am on a shitty little mobile, yous are lucky what comes out is intelligible 😂

  • @NewUser116861 sturridge's price will recover over the summer with transfer spec , to closer 1 .20 doubt he wil go much over, so it comes down to if you think you can make more than 20p a share up on him else where in a similur time frame which i defintally would be in favour of doing

  • @Agatello

I think if buying futures kept him out the team I’d buy!!!

However not sure if you noticed

But if all goes to plan FI are planning a initiation ceramany at midnight, throwing down the FI red carpet

And entering the house (1st team) should be none other than the legend that is Mousa Dembele (the real one not the young one) seen someone rank up 450 futures and next thing he’s on 127 which is enough has things stand

Think it’s with the Juve game in mind

  • @NewUser116861 gotta agree with agatello. Think Sturbridge isn't very good for FI purposes and only a big transfer would rescue his price. Alonso.. I'd hold. If Chelsea come onto form again he'll be a great goalscoring defender for PB.

  • It's been said before on here but a player is only worth what his current value is (X.98), I'd ask myself is the money I have in Sturridge more likely to rise with him or if I sold and reinvested with someone who actually plays football? Not knocking your investment as 6 weeks ago Sturridge was fit, could have saved west brom, got into the England squad and been worth £2. Unfortunately it didn't happen. If you had £10 now would you put it on Sturridge or someone else? If the answer is someone else then sell and reinvest.

  • @Ozzlebert was reading through this thread hoping someone had said this for me, so thank you. Couldn't agree more with this and it's the most important principle of FI as far as I'm concerned. Well that and don't panic buy / sell haha

  • @Pierrey2129 I think it was you that turned me round to this thinking, I get that people don't want to sell at a loss but it really doesn't make sense. I wonder if there are people out there still holding Zlatan at £4 waiting for him to rise again?

I sold up loads of my losses and stagnant money and used it to buy some Salah. With the 17p dividend recently and the huge rises I have probably made back all the losses and all the players I sold have stayed at roughly the same price. So thanks for putting me on the right path!
