Liverpool's March To Champions League Triumph

  • Hahaha just noticed the thread title change 😂😂

  • @ScouseSte But they bought Salah based on his ability. I'm pretty sure this one is much more based on £££ and that would be my biggest concern.

  • careful, the LFC staff have just seen the FI posters. Merry Christmas

Well as i said mate, it's a gamble.
    Time will tell.

If it was £5 per share then I'd not be so enthusiastic! But £1.70 is ok for me

  • @janner73
who we thinking? Fernandes again? Zaha?

  • @ScouseSte
did you see the Everton game?

  • @janner73 He has a flexibility to play anywhere across the front line but I'd class him a wide man personally. I don't see him as a replacement for anybody. You don't generally buy replacements for big players in the winter window. Usually you wait for summer. I see this as totally an opportunistic buy to improve the squad and not the first team.

  • For me, his price makes players like Keita and the Ox look far more appealing

  • @kaka8 Any attacking player linked to one of the big EPL sides is gonna rocket. Zaha I think has a good chance but there'll be one or 2 surprise links and that will be where the biggest gains are. I wouldn't touch Bruno - it's only ever been stories coming out of Portugal pushing an EPL move - he'll still be at Sporting next season.

  • @Dalien-Smith When I say replacement. He's a cheap punt at a potential replacement. For that release fee you can take a few of those types of punts and if one comes off you're laughing.

  • @ScouseSte Fair play but I honestly don't think you'll get a "world class" striker to sit on the bench and be backup for an established front three, I genuinely think Origi is ideal for that, even the likes of Dzeko got bored sitting on City's bench as backup (and the only reason Sane is still there is because he got injured)

I think Salah is going in summer mate. That's part of my confidence in this signing.

I could have massive egg on my face but I'll hold my hands up if I've got it all wrong..

  • @ScouseSte Minamo the new Mo Salah!😕

  • @ScouseSte And where does Brewster fit in all of this? Considering people were expecting him to be in and around the first team this season it doesn't look great for him signing another forward.

  • @janner73 said in Liverpool's March To Champions League Triumph:

@Dalien-Smith I'm not sure he is a wide player. If you look at his heat map (and stats) for Salzburg there's one Liverpool player he's very similar too - and it's not Mane or Salah but Firminio. He can probably play anywhere along the front 3 but I think he's the long-term potential replacement for Firminio.

After I watched the match I was thinking that he was very similar to Firmino, too.

  • @Dalien-Smith this! 100% this!!! He'll be a useful squad player, if he signs in jan (thats a few weeks away so expect market stagnation or dips until then) there may be another spike, then he will gradually decrease as people get bored of the fact that he's not come in and played straight away and sell him. He will take a few months to integrate into the squad maybe getting on the bench and cup games (if we're not out of the domestic cups by then which is highly likely) he's not likely to be competing for a first team place for 6 months or so (ie the start of next season) and there will be headlines saying he's flop and linking him away (see Fabinho this time last year) and if you think this is unrealistic go have a look at how Klopp introduced Andy Robbo, Ox-Chambo, Fabinho, Keita none of the came in and started every week, the only signing that did was Salah and he's obviously a unique talent.

I have said in a few other threads over the past few months (as a Liverpool fan, not an investor) that Brewster is nowhere near ready for first team action.

Youth players can be great against other youth players but when they step up against men it's a whole new world. Solanke got found out and I'm not writing Brewster off at all but because of that injury it's gonna take longer than people think before he breaks out

  • @janner73 hmm I disagree, hes ready for a move surely which is why they got him to signn a contract with probably a 3mill sign on fee.
But youre right, ther will be much better opportunities but its not easy. Maybe Saul, maybe Milinkovic Savic again. Just buy players who are class and sell after a mass rise

  • @9stevo

Well that's that then I guess. Dammit. Thanks Stevo!

    😂😂

Sssh. Don't tell @Ericali but Brewster is rumoured to be going on loan to Swansea in January.

    Check it out
