Match Day Ratings

Fairly new to FI and just wondering how the match day ratings work? Icardi scored 4 goals today and likely to be top forward yet is behind Dani Alves on the MDR list for star player.
How do FI make that determination?

Opta stats. There's a breakdown of point scoring, but I'm not sure where it is on the site.

@NewUser114085 You can use whoscored.com to have a look into the details but basically Salah got more points as he got a GWG (Game Winning Goal - the goal the separates the sides i.e. the second goal for the winners in a game that finishes 3-1) which is worth 40 points on top of the 40 he got for scoring the goal. He would also have got more points for general play as he gets involved in the game a lot more than Icardi.

Or Sofascore. Both are excellent.
