MB point allocation explanation please

  • How does an article by the daily star about Milner sharing a video of his room whilst in isolation get him 100 points. But an article about Pogba and raiola being at logger heads about his possible transfer, from the Daily Star also only get 20 points. Considering it is actually related to football and not CV? Someone please explain ......

  • @NewUser122021 to get the score they use keywords, so Milner's story must have had either more keywords or higher scoring ones

    Each story that is picked up is subject to a sentiment scoring system based on the words in this list:
    https://github.com/fnielsen/afinn/blob/master/afinn/data/AFINN-en-165.txt

    In Milner's article the words 'shares' and 'great' are worth points.
    Shares = 1
    Great = 3
    Milner mentioned = 1

    Add together is 5, multiply by 20 to get overall score of 100.

    There's a full explanation in the 'all things football index' thread.

  • Don’t even go there! Basically MB points (which are now the bedrock of the whole platform) are a complete joke. Read the list of keywords and all will become clear. How they can justify this is beyond belief
