@Hotspur yeh honestly scholes for me. Not a utd fan or anything but just loved him. Rooney a close 2nd as well as gazza and if were talking purely in an england shirt then certainly Ashley cole. Expected loads of flack for not picking CR7. Not a hater or owt, hes undoubtedly incredible but theres a certain type of player I love to watch and Rui Costa fits that mould

@MickTurbo it's pretty impossible... Even an arsenal fan choosing between Vieira, Henry, Pires is impossible.. And you've opened the question to the world! Kaka, ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, cafu, carlos? Pick any... All brilliant. Ronaldo was my first thought, but with his injuries... As a big fan of his it was always frustrating... Same with Owen for England.

Pretty much every nation apart from Ireland and Scotland there are 5 or 6 names that are a coin toss.

@Vespasian32 oh god Cafu!! And yeh R9, he really could have been the GOAT. Beyond belief. Think it was world cup '98, maybe '02. Brazil went 0-2 in a group game vs Denmark and won 4-2. Cafu took the game by the scruff of the neck from right back I'd seen nothing like it.
