Media Buzz for 4 months!!!!

  • Cannot really see the current season being finished for many reasons:

    1. Lockdown will probably be until Monday 1st June
    2. Players will need to train together for at least a couple of weeks before they can play
    3. Lots of overseas players are probably out of the country with there wider families and may well not be allowed back in to the country for a long period of time - this may even be a problem for next season!
    4. Saving lives as more important than football so cannot even see games being allowed behind closed doors as they will still need medical staff.

Therefore Media Buzz with 5 places may be around for some time. Transfers will not take place because medicals cannot happen so players like Sancho, Pogba and Coutinho will be in the press for months as any move cannot take place so they alongside a few others should pick up massive MB.

Taking this into account there prices could continue to rise for at least April and May as the sports press will have nothing else to write about.

  • May i ask a few questions Fletch

    1. Why will lockdown "probably" be until 1st June?
    2. Why will players need to train together for 2 weeks before they can play a game?
    3. Why will overseas players not be in the country?
    4. Why will games not be allowed behind closed doors?
    5. Why will Media buzz with 5 places be around for a long time?
    6. Why cant medicals happen for transfers?
7.Why will their prices continue to rise
    7. Why will the sports press have nothing else to write about?

    Thanks

  • @NewUser531742

Listening to most experts and using China and other countries that are further through the process it seems 12 weeks is required to get the virus under control.
Players can not just leave there houses after 12 weeks of isolation and suddenly be asked to perform without some form of training/preperation
Even after lockdown finishes our borders will be closed for some considerable time as they will not want any chance of the virus being brought back into the country.
As stated games require Ambulance and other medical staff in attendance and they will be required elsewhere
Therefore no PB until the next season starts
Without actual matches the football press will only have speculation top write about

    Hope that helps

Well this article pretty much debunks every one of your arguments

    https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/premier-league-complete-season-behind-18000479

To be fair. I am sure they want to finish the season then but doesn't mean its going to happen.

I can the 20/21 season being binned. There has to be a serious risk of next season being covid affected apart from anything else.

This isn't exactly an unbiased source! Give me experts over the Liverpool Echo.

I think it is becoming pretty apparent that we will be in lockdown until mid June now. Even after that, I think there will be an amount of social distancing over the summer in place.

I think it will not be a good lock for football to take up medical staff and being seen together on the pitch, let alone players getting coronavirus and not being available. Too many clubs will say no to the season starting again so soon. More clubs are apparently thinking of voting for a void (that I can't prove though).

I also think all of the big euro leagues should need to do the same, to be in line with club continental competitions. I can't see Spain or Italy being up and running in this time frame.

So, whether this season is extended to end 2020 calendar year or voided altogether, I think it's now quite a high chance we won't see football until maybe September.

Ive been thinking the same. Next season has every possibility of not happeneing they will finish this season during that time but it will depend on other countries and uefa as well

May i ask a few questions Fletch

    1. Why will lockdown "probably" be until 1st June?

Safety reasons and even once we start returning to normal flights in and out of the country will be limited

    1. Why will players need to train together for 2 weeks before they can play a game?

Players can train individually but the team need to train together to to be match fit

    1. Why will overseas players not be in the country?

Some players are overseas with their families I believe not sure how long they will need to wait before they are allowed to return for risk of bringing the virus back in

    1. Why will games not be allowed behind closed doors?

The NHS is under enough stress they wont want to risk adding sporting injuries to their to do list

    1. Why will Media buzz with 5 places be around for a long time?

    No football

    1. Why cant medicals happen for transfers?

Health concerns and risk of spreading infection

7.Why will their prices continue to rise

Hype and FOMO. On FI the suspense of something happening like a transfer is always better for a players price than the transfer as theres a general feeling media drys up afterwards. Buy the rumour, sell the news

    1. Why will the sports press have nothing else to write about?

Theres no football, no footballers out socialising and a low chance of transfers being confirmed so all we will have is transfer spec and the usual media’s favourites in the media eye

The source is London.football as is clearly stated.
Whether they are unbiased or not might be a different matter though.

You say that this isnt an unbiased source but if you read it they're reporting on an article from football.london, is that unbiased enough for you?

Yes this is all conjecture atm, as until we know that most countries have it under control we wont know about when the games can recommence.

I'd like to think that this pandemic will have passed within 3 months but I'm actually starting to get a feeling that it might take another 12-18 months for it to die out naturally, obviously if a vaccine is discovered then it might be a shorter timeframe.

But, however long it takes, until it has passed I think the best course of action is to remain flexible and not make any finite decisions on whether to void the season or not. As we could find that theres no football until christmas time and at that point how would you fit a full season into 4 or 5 months? It would be practically impossible. But, if you have left the current season open ended then you can make the decision to cancel the 20/21 season and you can play the last 9 league games, finish domestic and european cups in the build up to euro 2021, and if theres a period available do a one off club tournament to fill any void between the end of this season finishing in ssy march 21 and when the season should finish in may 21

  • Thanks so much for the advice but Donald Trump said everything will be back to normal again in a couple of weeks.
I do not buy into the fearmongering. The numbers of people dying and catching coronavirus is a pathetic lie.

    1. Apparently 1 in 12 people are catching this disease at the moment .
    2. Apparently Italy has 92,000 cases.
    3. Apparently the world has 662,775 cases.

Are you telling me that Italy have tested 1104000 people?
What about in the world have they have tested 7953300 people?

Its all wrong it stinks of corruption to crash the world economy anyone who has a slight cough they are saying they have coronavirus, the numbers are all wrong. There is no way that many people have even been tested

Thank god you've spoken up. It must have been at least a day since one of the many experts in epidemiology, politics and economics that we seem to have in this forum have given their opinion! I was starting to get worried.

If you want to know the accurate numbers of how many people have been tested, go to the John Hopkins or the World Health Organisation websites. Because I have no idea how you seem to have arrived at those numbers of people being tested. And maybe keep off of Donald Trump's twitter for a bit...

  • @Daniel That is the exact website i used, maybe do your own research or have a basic grasp of mathematics and maybe speak afterwards...

They do not even have accurate tests do some reading little man

  • @NewUser531742 where on earth have you got that 1 in 12 figure from that has caused you to assume we have to have tested 12 times more people than the confirmed case numbers? To figure out that x amount of people have the virus you only need to have done exactly x tests. And then youve told someone else to get a grip of basic maths. Superb irony. You have facts from reputable verified sources in front of you and youve decided to lower all of our iq's by giving us a lecture on how we are not being told the truth in the style of a tin foil hat wearer who dropped out of school at 12 years old. Good one.

  • @NewUser531742 said in Media Buzz for 4 months!!!!:

    link text

Firstly , this is not a link to either of John Hopkins or the WHO, this is a link to worldometers.info

Secondly, I've just looked around the site and it is accurate with same information you'll find on the WHO site - and absolutely no where on this site does it say 1104000 people have been tested in Italy, and that 7953300 have been tested globally.

  • oh well that was fun i guess nobody has came back negative yet. Good one

    Are you broken??

You've just made things up. These numbers don't make sense, you certainly didn't get them from the website you sent a link to, and where has 1 in 12 come from?

  • Here is a quote from the who you mentioned -

"The hospital acted as a multiplier," Walter Ricciardi, executive board member of the World Health Organization (WHO) and consultant for the Italian health ministry, told Al Jazeera.

Ricciardi refuses to consider the country as a global black sheep.

"From an epidemiologic point of view, it is not plausible that Italy has stopped the flights from China and accounts for more cases than Germany and France," he said.

Italy has tested more than 42,000 people so far, while other European Union countries performed significantly fewer controls. This scrupulous search inflated the tally, he said.

If they have tested only 42000 people how have they got 99000 cases?
