French ligue 1 and 2 cancelled
-
-
Oh Juan Bernat you fucker back into the red
-
Lets hope it isnt but being widely reported as fact that it will be announced by government later today. Some of my french holds have potential transfers on horizon so maybe a lack of football may benefit their prices!
-
SACRE BLEU! Is this official?
-
Neymar down also. Still good for MB though 👍🏼
-
If this does turn out to be true then I would imagine there will be price drops for the majority of Ligue 1 players (excluding premium MB holds I guess) but it'll be predominantly from traders listing them rather than actual sells. Might be some bargains to be had!
-
@Dronny-Gaz dont think governments announced it yet but dont think it's fake news. It's all over Twitter from reliable sources aswel as papers
-
Big news this.
Obviously the French are the first to surrender 🏳️🏳️
-
So surely if they've cancelled their leagues, what happens to the clubs still involved in Europa/Champions League?
Also didn't UEFA issue a statement about not completing a league effecting next seasons European qualification?
-
Not like the French to surrender eh? 😐
I'm only joking, they have handled the pandemic not much better than us in the UK so I can't see them being able to handle the logistics of football yet.
The premier league and TV money is probably too influential to let that happen here though.
-
@Dronny-Gaz if they are not playing football they can't take part.
Don't know how this will work logistically whether the team scheduled to play PSG would get a by or whether the team they eliminated would be reinstated.
😐🤷
-
@Dronny-Gaz regarding next season I think its up to the league to decide providing teams are selected on performance merit. Pretty sure Holland have decided ajax and az will make champs league.
-
Will be interesting to see the rationale. This sets the benchmark for any league in Europe that wants to restart, need to show the concerns the French have will be mitigated. First time I've now thought we could really see all leagues cancelled/nulled. Logistics maybe just too hard to pull off i.e. what if players get sick, non playing staff protection, health care resources taken away from front line hospitals etc. Will certainly create debate at least.

@Frodo-Swaggins
Can someone in the French league be signed by another countries team who are completing the season?
-
Im sure they can be signed but not sure they can be registered to play as most leagues operate with a 'registered squad' of 25 players (i.e. PL). Not sure you can add to this outside of designated transfer windows unless they are a free agent?
-
@Dronny-Gaz They could sign a player if the windows open but they wouldnt be allowed to play.
-
I would say DON'T PANIC if you hold an army of French holds.
Transfers/transfer talk, Euros and World Cup are just around the corner.
-
@Frodo-Swaggins You are right they couldn't register them. Imagine if Villa signed 3 or 4 talents from Lyon, Rennes etc and escaped relegation from their impact.
-
This does start making things interesting for the transfer window and its timing. Could imagine Dutch and French teams struggling financially would like to get some business done but when can the window start without disrupting leagues still planning to continue playing?
-
Well it'll certainly make the Meunier situation interesting. Should expedite any conversations he may have been having with future clubs. Might get a bit of media interest off the back of it.
