The 100% Club

  • Inspired by @FIGenesis’s recent 50% and 100% threads which concentrated on French players, I thought it might be interesting for the forum to do something similar. The general idea is for each participant to choose 3 players who you believe have the potential to reach 100% ROI within the next 12 months along with their price and brief reasoning for the choice. Let’s try not to turn this into a pump thread though so no 🚀 please. I’ll update this original post on a monthly basis and record each persons progress. It’ll be really interesting to see the results, which I’ll base on the average % increase accross your 3 players. For the purposes of this “experiement” I’ll be taking CA only into account, with divs being ignored.

And the grand prize for the winner next year?...Nothing, just bragging rights! I’ll go first:

Marc Roca - £1.02 - Young metronomic DM who has been one of the few shining lights (along with RDT) in a woeful Espanyol side. Likely to get a move if/when they get relegated.

Marcus Edwards - £1.10 - Didn’t quite work out for him at Spurs but has been in excellent form in Liga Nos. If he continues this into next season more PL links will follow.

Adam Ounas - £1.12 - On loan at Nice from Napoli and had some fitness/injury issues at the start of the season but has really kicked on since then. Reports that Nice will not exercise their option to buy (£25m) so he may get a chance at Napoli next season with Mertens moving on and Lozano out of favour. This selection is slightly riskier but he’s great to watch.

I’ll close entries at the end of the day seeing as it’s the 1st of the month. Good luck!

    UPDATE - 2nd June 2020

So there we have it - The 100% Club is up and running with 27 brave warriors vying to become forum champion.

I've limited it to 3 players per person so if you suggested more than this I've taken your first 3. For anyone who only suggested 1 or 2 players, I've allowed it, although obviously your victory will always have that annoying asterisk beside it :p

Interesting to note the wide range of players and strategies being put into play with everyone from Endo at £0.27 to Havertz at £6.61. The average buy price of £1.44 across all entries is perhaps an indicator of where the forum sees value on the platform.

I'll provide a further update at the beginning of July which will include % increases and we'll see who has come out of the blocks the fastest.

    UPDATE - 1st July 2020

Well guys we're now a month in and the league table makes for some very interesting reading with some storming out of the blocks, some who haven't gotten out of bed yet and already some asterisk's which will no doubt divide fans so plenty to discuss.

Leading the way early doors is @Ringers with a stonking 17.24% increase in just one month with Mehdi Taremi enjoying a rich run of form in Portugal, but having only chosen one player any title challenge will surely be accompanied by the dreaded Asterisk.

@MickTurbo sits in second on 16.02% with Phil Foden single-handedly dragging his side up the table. Summer transfer links for Ajer and Wober could well push this side to the next level.

Making up the remainder of the Champions League places are @JonesyFI-WH and myself, with both sides having a young talisman to do the business for them in Patson Daka and Marcus Edwards. Again transfer links could play a key part in the long term success of both sides. Although with Jonesy only selecting two players, the court of public opinion will certainly have something to say.

Propping up the table in the relegation spots with fans baying for blood are @DillyDong , @Ericali and @Abaalan . The conclusion of the Bundesliga, lack of playing time and seemingly very few f**ks given about anything happening in Serie A other than Ronaldo and Dybala are common themes among the early strugglers. Surely the self proclaimed FI Guru, a behemoth of Football Index already has plans in pace to turn his season around - stay tuned!

P.S. Please someone check my math!

P.P.S. As a group we're up about 2.29% - so much for collective thinking!

  • @MikeWagner nice idea I don’t in all honesty have 3 in my port I normally work on 40% and out but I do have 2 I have faith in and will lowly hold them for at least 12 months regardless.

    Maxwell Cornet Lyon £1.06
Got pumped to high heaven after his PB win, but with Lyon in financial trouble I can see them selling some of the Crown Jewels which should allow Maxwell to start regularly and hopefully compete for PB.

    Renton Steffen Wolfsburg 39p
Similar to Maxwell had a PB win after a hat trick for Wolfsburg; he’s a regular starter and if he has a G or A his scores are up there most weeks. He’s also got international football with Switzerland and Euro with his club. One of the few cheaper players I now own and my biggest share holding by a few hundred.

  • My entry is Umaro Embalo at 93p (less if you get matched).

Just turned 19 and will either get a chance for Benfica next season or will try his luck abroad (Twitter search suggests his agent has started agitating). Genuine wonderkid at age group level in Portugal and is a bit under the radar FI wise, like Trincao was ;)

  • These players are my current long term holds and those I believe could achieve 100% profit with a bit of luck and the right combination of circumstances.

Goretzka - (25yrs) £1.65. Future Bayern and Germany captain. The Bayern midfield will be build around him and Kimmich for the next 3 years. Goal scoring, recent PB winner. The German Lampard. If his injury woes are behind him, then I expect his price to continue rising.

Suso - (26 years) £1.61. Currently on loan at Sevilla who favour possession based, PB friendly football under manager Lopetegui. Only joined mid season, but already takes most set pieces and appears to be the main creative outlet following the demise of Banega. If he remains with Sevilla, I expect consistently high PB scores.

Robert Skov - (24yrs) - £2.00. Recently re-classified as a defender on the index (although I can see that possibly being changed back to Mid/Fwd by next season). Goalscoring, set piece taking, Danish international. There is a possibility that he might be in line to take the next penalty for Hoffenheim, following Zubers miss at the weekend. A goalscoring defender would be a golden ticket! 🤑

Pedro Porro (20yrs) - 66p. Man City right back, currently on loan at Valladolid. A problem position for City at the minute. Hopefully he returns to City at the end of this season and is given a chance. Look at the prices of Eric Garcia or Angelino if you need evidence of recent Man City price rises after playing for the first team.

Malinovskyi (27yrs)£1.10- the natural successor to Ilicic/Gomez at Atalanta. A set piece specialist with a history of long range net busters. If he gets consistent game time with Atalanta, his price could rocket. IPO was only around 70p. Main attacking threat for Ukraine also.

  • @MikeWagner nice idea for a thread.

I'm going to go in with 3 and I hold all 3, the 1st 2 are cheaper so have better potential at reaching 100% and my 3rd is a higher price wild card..

Oriol Busquets @ 64p fc twente / Barcelona

    Javier Ontiveros @75p Villarreal

    Wildcard gut choice

Tammy Abraham @2-76 Chelsea potential Europe campaign next year, and England euro's if he carries on where he left off, and the potential he's not unleashed yet.

  • I am picking three of my portfolio for this challenge, no need for a bio on each as they all have the same requirements, sub £1, currently non PB league and should hopefully be in a PB league within the year :-

    Wataru Endo - 27p
    Vitaliy Mykolenko - 93p
    Kristoffer Ajer - 98p

  • Emi Buendia - £2.22

    Leon Bailey £2.10

    Grady Diangana £1.35

All dependant upon Transfer spec/ and who they get linked with but i see significant rises in all three in the next 12 months.

  • OK so left field shout and i am going to sound crazy.

Reece James. Hear me out here, before the season was paused he started taking corners from 'can't beat the first man' Willian. He has already had his crossing ability compared to that of Beckham. He has already won PB narrowly missing out on star man by 3 points i believe (it was a bronze day but still). There have been multiple games where Chelsea have looked to Reece James to help them break down teams who sit back. He would've had a lot of assists had Chelsea been able to finish his crosses and an injury free Tammy will be getting on the end of more of the crosses. Ziyech may take over corners but personally think they will stick with Reece i think given the way the Chelsea coaching staff have made claims about Reece being Englands first choice RB in the future, The fact that once Willian leaves Reece James could take over free kicks as well and when you factor in TAA is currently £9.12. Could Reece hit £7 if Chelsea were to go on a run next season? It's not guaranteed and there are far more likely players to double in value but the more TAA grows in value the more undervalued Reece looks to me.

  • @London-Is-Blue

That's interesting about Reece James recently taking the corners ... 🤔 taking set pieces plays a massive part in a players PB score.

Although you are probably right that Ziyech will take over set pieces when he arrives.

    Food for thought.

  • Aleksandar Mitrovic (£1.05) - Based purely on transfer to the PL. I can see a move to Newcastle for him. I think he's over £2 if he gets a move to a top half of PL club. If not then it's probably a bust. High risk, high reward.

Marcel Sabitzer (£2.58) - If he moves club he's moving to a very big club and he's massively undervalued at the moment. If he doesn't move he won't 100% but should still steadily rise.

Diogo Dalot (£0.89) - Shot in the dark but I can see him moving into a more attacking role for United this season. If they player him regularly as a winger and he links up well with fellow Portugese star Bruno, his price could explode.

Two pretty big punts there but to make 100% you usually have to think outside the box.

  • @johnboywalker Yeah I think it's likely but at the same time.... quotes from an interview with Reece James on the Chelsea website.

There have been comparisons with David Beckham!
‘David Beckham is a legend and probably one of the best crossers of the ball there has been in world football. To be mentioned in the same sentence as his crossing is very good for me but he did it for many years and I have to respect what he did. I have only done it for a few games. A lot of people have said about it but I need to maintain it and keep on improving.’

Does it mean you can take a good free-kick as well?
‘If there is a free-kick there and it is for me, I would not put it past me. It is similar skill, not too much difference.’

He has also scored two? Free kicks at Wigan.

  • Few from my port...also hold a few of the ones mentioned above

Anthony Caci, £1.07 - got some attention before football stopped and injury, hopefully ready to come back for the new season. 1 goal and 4 assists in 8 league games this year and only 22.

Habib Diallo, £1.14 - linked to Chelsea in January and Metz owner recently said he'll probably be leaving this summer. Still young and with a decent move can increase further.

Florian Neuhaus, £1.33 - bit of attention scoring yesterday and had 6 shots the game before while playing more advanced. Highly regarded in Germany and hopefully into the squad for Euro 2021. Will have european football next season with Gladbach too.

  • Kristoffer Ajer - 98p - 22 year old behemoth Norweigian centre half at Celtic, touted as the new VVD, admittedly aided by the Celtic link but not difficult to see other reasons for the comparison. Articles as recently as yesterday, stating that Celtic will let him go in the summer, with EPL teams known to be interested. A year from now I think there'll be a matrix review to put CB's on a more level playing field with with wing backs, hopefully creating the perfect storm for him

Max Wober - 64p - virtually identical comments

Phil Foden - £5.87 - I could list a dozen cheapies so thought rather than picking one, I'd go the other way. Phil Foden is top class, hes 19 and his game time is set to go through the roof as David Silva moves on. I think hes nailed on for the deferred Euros and will become a mainstay of the England side before WC '22. Jason Sancho has paved the way for elite youth, followed by TAA, EBH, Havertz, Mbappe. For me, Foden sits amongst these and will show everyone in the next 12 months. Hes gonna be PB friendly as well

  • Habib diallo

Leicester he would reach 2.50 on transfer news imo and would seem a good fit.
    Linked with chelsea also.

    R lopez
Next off sociadads youth structure, viewed as their best youth prospect and already has a contract to 2025, winger who should get a squad place next season, who also should be in europe next season

If AWB gets injured and Dalot gets a run there is potential there.

  • Ruben Dias - £1.24, 23 years old, £87m release clause - been linked to Man City and Barcelona in April. Can see him being high in-demand particularly looking at City who need a good centre back. A move to the EPL will definitely see him rocket?

  • Jarrod Bowen-1.64 not necessarily the cheapest but has been proving himself in the orem and has been very solid in his recent performances for West Ham, great potential.

Jurgen Ekkenlenkamp- 1.51 young Dutch centre mid will get more game time not that Ziyech is leaving and with a potential leave from Van De Beek he’s got a good chance of breaking into the team.

Jesus Manuel Corona-0.59 cheap investment for the Mexican right back that is heavily linked with moves to the premier league. Chelsea and West Ham look interested and that will boost his price if he moves.

    Any thoughts on these??

  • @NewUser611904

The only issue I see with Bowen is the fact he plays for West Ham. They are horrendous for PB under Moyes.

I can't remember where I saw the stats, but I'm pretty sure that so far this season, West Ham have amongst the worst PB scores of the EPL and also the opposition is most likely to win PB when playing against West Ham.

They allow the opposition to dominate possession and that is a PB death sentence around here!! 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • My entry is Medhi Taremi 29p, only has to hit 58p for the 100%.

He is Iranian and currently at Rio Ave in Portugal. Check out his stats he is a goal scorer.

The Rio Ave chairman has basically said he’s going. Links to Benfica, so euro competition next year. Linked to Aston Villa and Bordeaux last winter window so move to PB league not out of the question.

Even if he goes to Benfica I can see a 1 season buyout clause so they can cash in.

      1. Halstenberg (RB Leipzig) £1.27

Attacking full back at the exciting German team. His price has dropped from a high of £1.85 from Dec '19, due mainly to being used in a back 3 whilst playing as a centre half due to injuries.

Angelino was also brought in on loan from Manchester City who filled in playing the more attacking LWB role.

I can't see the deal being made permanent as City are demanding £30m & Halstenberg has started 2 of the 3 games since the resumption of the Bundesliga back in his favourite position.

A sign of things to come 👍 even better time to buy as he was sent off in the last match & will miss the next game so you can get on board at an artificial "low" price.

      1. P. Ghiglione (Genoa) 65p

This attacking 23 year old right-back has been a rare bright spark in a relatively depressing season for relegation threatened Genoa. Assisting 5 times in 20 appearances

Lots of teams in Italy are taking an interest & with his contract up in 12 months, now seems to be the perfect time for someone to close the deal.

Linked with Milan, Lazio & Roma among others I feel it will just take a transfer or one PB win for his price to get some seriously rapid traction.

      1. R. Bentancur (Juventus) £1.42

Hard to believe this guy is still only 22 as he seems to have been around forever.

A well known PB performer for those on sites like indexgain what's historically stopped his price from soaring is playing second fiddle to Pjanic who was seen as the heartbeat of the Sarri-led team.

This looks like it's about to change....

With Pjanic looking set to leave the next 12 months could be his break-out season in Football Index terms for the Uruguayan.

  • Anybody put somebody that they don’t hold? 😂😂
