FigCast šŸ‘‚šŸŽ™ļøšŸŽ§ Football Index Podcast

  • Hey all, as mentioned in another thread I thought it'd be a good idea to start separating my content out on the forum. Bare with me whilst I create the threads I require! (Here's yet another!)

If you haven't seen in previous posts, I've had some feedback from some forum users that they'd like me to interact more with comments, and other posts - as well as post more generally on the forum.

I totally agree with the feedback, and I think using threads for my content will make my life easier in keeping up with everything.

This thread will be dedicated to the original sunday show of my podcast, the #FigCast otherwise known as the Football Index podcast:

In this latest episode, I was joined by Lee B, a full time trader who's recently left a big bank in a very high position.

    We discuss:

    ā€“ Core dividends
ā€“ How Football Index scale to a Ā£1 billion market cap
ā€“ Where do they need to improve?
    ā€“ Tech and product discussions
    ā€“ Sell orders
    ā€“ NASDAQ
    ā€“ Much, much, much more!

If you'd like to listen, check it out here! https://footballindexguide.com/fig_podcast/figcast149/

  • @The-FIG absolutely fantastic

  • @Collymore10 Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it! Can't take much credit though, all Lee's amazing work!

  • Hi @The-FIG not listened to any of your threads yet.

    Not saying I wouldn't....

    But why Should I?

What temps me? What does your show offer that I can't find already here in the forum? šŸ¤”

    Thanks

  • @Ericali seriously, listen to the latest pod. It is great quality throughout and very insightful. The forum also has great quality but can be like looking for a needle in a haystack sometimes.

  • @Ericali
Well you can't read the forum whilst cleaning the toilet.

Pods are great for keeping tabs on index stuff whilst not staring at screens for a bit. Depends on your job I guess but I spend way too long on computers and my phone.

But honestly..... It takes a few clicks to see if you like them. If you really can't be arsed to click a few buttons without people having to talk you into it then stick to the forum.

  • @Hotspur most of what lee said was stuff that's been discussed here before tho - like buy cheap with smaller budget, buy premium with big budget. Comms are poor etc. It was all just preamble for another crazy Sancho pump. Ā£35 lol. Lee would never buy a Sancho share for Ā£35.

I ran the numbers on Josh Onomah and only get Ā£27.43 on my model... so that puts Sancho at around Ā£3.63-4.27

  • Nice to hear that someone like lee was on the trader panel, talked sense.

  • @Coriolanus I thought the discussion was more indepth and measured than other debates on the forum and other pods. Good recognition of the current problems and key issues which FI and traders need to think about. I did find the Sancho pump fest at the end a bit unnecessary and nauseating though...

  • @Ericali Honestly, I'm not sure why there's such insistence to be 'sold' the podcast.

You're probably spending more time posting on the threads, asking to be convinced to listen to it - than it would take to listen to a portion of an episode!

The podcast has won awards, is widely listened to by 10's thousands a month, and I honestly don't feel the need to 'sell' the show, it actually feels quite awkward to me!

I think you should listen to the latest episode. If it's not your cup of tea, that's totally fine! Let me know how you get on :)

  • @Hotspur think it showed the best and worst of pods ā€¦ allowing one person a platform gives them opportunity to be eloquent and uninterrupted (so no argument) ā€¦ but you miss any form of counterpoint or different angle... even if its in agreement but from another type of example or depth. Id prefer more of them to be live on youtube or something where you can question or ask for more info on the fly.

  • @Coriolanus fair comment. A head to head debate would be interesting - 2 traders with polarising views on particular issues and we can vote on the winner, election style!

Have you checked out football index round table? For me it's the best of the pods for pretty much the reasons you gave against Figs as well as being more analytical. The two pods work together pretty nicely though. Losing a bit of enthusiasm for HWAH now though which is a distant 3rd.

Ive started listening to a lot of pods recently partly to get me off the computer

  • @SDOAFIT yeh I need to give that a go. I like hwah ā€¦ good variety of guests and opinions. figs is slick and professional but echo chamber and pretty one dimensional

The bit that is starting to grate now on both FIG and HWAH is the 'tell us a bit about your football index journey'. Yeah we know you just put 10 quid in to try it out, yep it built up over time just like everyone else. It's particularly painful when the same guest comes on FIG and then HWAH. I know its just an icebreaker but.... Needs someone to stir it up, maybe they need an ex crim who spent the proceeds from a bank heist on sancho or something to liven that bit up.

Both of those two live and die really by their guests. FIG has been ahead of HWAH on that front recently.

Surprisingly, quite enjoy the one with panda. Its 90 percent nonsense but entertaining enough and you don't have to worry about missing anything useful so can listen whilst doing the shop in tesco.

  • @SDOAFIT yeh agree about the intros, unless they have a new user as a guest.. do we really care what someone did with their first Ā£50 two ...three years ago? but i guess thats just a natural differential to articles or forum discussions where, generally, there is clear subject matter not much preamble

@Ericali Honestly, I'm not sure why there's such insistence to be 'sold' the podcast.

Because it's your product & you obviously want as many followers or listeners as possible or you wouldn't post the links on here would you?

You're probably spending more time posting on the threads, asking to be convinced to listen to it - than it would take to listen to a portion of an episode!

I do spend more time posting on here šŸ‘ I've nearly been on here 2 years now & it's by far the most knowledgeable source of information in football index terms I've come across, whether it's a dividend increase, a media review, the ME or promotion - I come here to chew the fat on any potential changes & the opportunities these create

The podcast has won awards, is widely listened to by 10's thousands a month, and I honestly don't feel the need to 'sell' the show, it actually feels quite awkward to me!

This doesn't do anything for me - you probably was the original podcast in terms of Football index so cornered a lot of the original market - when competing in a one horse race you're likely to back a few winners aren't you

I think you should listen to the latest episode. If it's not your cup of tea, that's totally fine! Let me know how you get on :)

Again, back to my original point, why should I listen? What are you discussing that will grab my attention?

I may come across as being a bit arsey here - but genuinely I'm not trying to be. I could love the show, I've listened to a few of the @IRISHFI podcasts when he has a few guests of interest on, but if he has guests who I don't know of, or don't follow on Twitter then I don't listen - because I have no interest. šŸ¤· It's simplistic but an obvious concept

But that's the point I'm making. I don't know Panda other than the fact he's made decent money from Betfair (a different product entirely) I know of your Podcast but haven't listened.

    If you could cover:-

    • The changing delta's & reasoning why football index keep tweaking them
    • why has it took so long for sell orders to be implemented
    • The best value for money players (yield to prices)
    • NASDAQ
    • Why the footie is still used as a market indicator when it can no longer dip with the removal of IS back to the house
    • The problems some (alleged) accounts are having with EDD when withdrawing cash
    • What you think FI's plans for coping with the Covid-19 pandemic if we have this crisis for the next 2 years as some are predicting
    • Why FI can't "lock" the player positions down for a single season instead of pointing the finger in OPTA's direction for the chaos it creates

I would also say the dividend announcement, but that will be cleared up tomorrow

    Thanks

  • Just wish I could for once listen to a FIGCast of FIGCast Extra without having to hear the name Jadon Fucking Sancho. As others have said it's just a pump fest constantly and it gets tiresome.

In this one there were mentions throughout and just to hammer the point home he gets talked about for 10 minutes solid at the end.

I'm sure there's loads of obscure questions you get sent to ask the guests yet you seem to hand pick several Sancho questions per episode instead.

Just shut up and buy some Sancho okay?!šŸ˜†šŸ˜‰

  • I'm not long involved in FI but when I can catch the Fig cast and I like the other 2 as well but with 4 young kids rarely get the time. @The-FIG , the funny Irish fella @IRISHFI and the round table crew have all gave me so many valuable tips so I really thank you all for dedicating your time for users like me. @The-FIG could we have a time each pod when the actual fi content starts and without sounding shirty panda can come accross a bit smug. I am one of the users who entered without a clue to things like transfer divs and super match day so that had a bearing on my holds which are now impossible to sell with 50ā€° plus spreads. Still love the product and have learnt from my mistakes but need to remember that everyone does not have a squillion sanchos
