£1000 in the green. 18.6% profit. Would you be happy with that in 8 months?
-
I know It's not real profit until withdrawn into the bank.
Just curious as what people consider successful in a recently unstable market?
-
I’d be very happy with that considering all that’s gone on and still going on. Well done.
-
In the current market it’s decent.
-
Very happy!
-
I'd take that in 8 months time.
-
@Mr-Richard-T ask yourself where else can you get that return on your cash especially in a time of a such financial uncertainty and hopefully with the added bonus of enjoyment along the way!
-
@Mr-Richard-T berry good returns in a very stable market. Make sure you cash in those returns and move to the trend and keep that money growing
-
Good return given everything that’s happened in the last 6 months. Stick with it. You’ll make even more than 18.6% in the next 9 months!
-
@Mr-Richard-T decent mate from being a beginner. So much to learn. Expect better in the next 9 months, but definitely decent to say the least. Well done👍

Good going mate 👍 for the most part of your time here it will have been much trickier than usual so to show any profit is good going. Keep checking in on this forum, it's the best resource for FI out there!

@Mr-Richard-T there'll be lots of people with higher profit % and plenty of people with lower % - try not to listen to the external noise and reflect on your own enjoyment and confidence in your strategies as well as the platform as a whole. I suspect however that you are looking for reassurance and to me, that % suggests that you're progressing nicely.

Cheers guys. I edited it actually 8 months lol but yeah defo happy with that
-
@Yellow Completely agree mate forum is great! I always have a little late night read now and then lol

If this were last year... I'd have been massively disappointed with just 18% but in these COVID times, I'd say that's not a bad start.

I started at the end of May and seem to have gone the other way but not unhappy.
I started with £9990 and managed to get it up to £10800 however it was all paper profit with huge spreads and chasing a lot of divs.
I then decided to get rid of a lot of the big spreads and premium holds that I made the mistake of buying at peak price in my first week eg: Werner, Havertz, Haland, Ronaldo ete etc
TBH I spent a lot buying them again at ME price to reduce my cost.
Anyway I have got rid of most, invested in keepers and sold the last of my big spreads yesterday at IS to jump on Messi and David Silva last week.
Currently sitting around £9990 again but with a better port and much smaller spreads.
I do kind of miss my port looking at over £800 profit since May but hoping I made the right choices.
-
Plus if I drop out of Messi soon I will have around £3k to spend!!!

I’ve been on roughly the same amount of time as you. Started in jan 2020. Completely clean slate, as I had no idea what I was doing. Currently sitting at 26% profit, however I have a long term view and have Been pretty lucky with some of my buys. I try not to trade a lot and am stacking up on div returners and future prospects. I have found all the time I’ve been on the index to be pretty volatile and would like to trade more but I’ve been sticking to things that I’m more confident in for now and trying not to take too many risks.
I love the platform and coming from a non gambling background I find it a lot of fun.
I’m hoping the next 8 month will not be quite as volatile.Best of luck.
