How can you blame FI when the traders are 100% responsible for determining the prices?
How did Buy Prices get so high?

Are football index having a laugh, on some players there is a 50% spread between buy and sell!
Complete and utter joke and untradeable!
Its got nothing to do with FI they don’t determine the spreads we do. You should be accusing your fellow traders for taking the piss not FI. Spreads will only be tight when demand is high

Seriously...
Nothing to do with FI.

Who sets the rules around here?
Are you guys going to try and gaslight everyone who brings this up?

So you want to narrow the spreads by being able to list your players for sale at a lower price?
How the fuck does that help?!
The spread in isolation can be reduced by either the buy price going up or the sell price going down. The market aint bidding up the prices as we have seen even with a 8% promo.
Lets look at a worked example
10p Buy offer - 20p Sell offer -> 10p spread
15p Buy offer - 20p Sell offer -> 5p spread
10p Buy offer - 15p Sell offer -> 5p spreadThe market isn't pushing the by price up so the only way you get tighter spread is reducing the sell offer and removing the silly 1p rule.
We need tigher spreads more than artificailly high prices that no - one can actually achieve.

@Dan-The-Man You'd know the answer better than me, so please explain...

Fuck sake mate, don't get him started ...
-
@johnboywalker finally had enough of him, blocked, someone let me know when he loses his negativity
-
@Black-Wolf I would argue that point slightly mate. FI create the bid zones and FI users bid the lowest price possible. If FI were to narrow he bid zones then on many players we would see users bid higher, thus narrowing the spreads.
-
@Toptom so we remove the 1p limit and it reduces the spread as we can sell our shares cheaply, how does that help apart from giving a smaller spread?
Why does having a tighter spread at a lower price help?
-
@johnboywalker It's fine, the more he repeats himself, the more he'll get bored.
-
@Meridismo04 you reckon he hasn’t since about mid May!
-
@NewUser368405 The problem is I dont think there is any real MM just now, well certainly not in the way and volume the market needs.
Right now all thats on display is what someone else is willing to offer.
Its a shit show right now I know, best advice I can give is ignore your port for while if you can.

I can assure you, he does not get bored. He does not stop. He is relentless.
He's like the T-1000, but instead of being sent here to terminate us, he has been programmed to bore us the fuck to death!? 🤣
-
@OldUser731 then people would moan about the limited opportunity from being able to buy low and sell high. The complaints would rain in that “FI is forcing us to buy new shares from them instead of allowing us to trade freely amongst ourselves” If the bid zone was too tight yes we would have narrow spreads but very little room to trade and profit.

@Dan-The-Man You'd know the answer better than me, so please explain...
One day, if you wanted to buy Neymar you had to pay the Buy Price... the next day, if you wanted to buy Neymar, you could bid under the Buy Price, which meant the Buy Price, is something nobody wants to pay.
It's really that simple.
-
@Black-Wolf I think that is a very fair point. But I don't desperately see why some of the spreads have to be so big. Why not have a maximum of say 30% spread. Still plenty of room then to make profit in between. Can very much see the argument from both sides.
-
@Dan-The-Man Why did you ask me if you knew the answer then?

Because you asked a really stupid question to the OP.
-
@Marksandygill Your issue is you're not selling the player cheaply. The price is what you can actually sell it for today. Reducing the sell price and tightening the spreads gives two main benifits:
-
easier movement in and out of the market, the liquidity that we all want to buy a player one day sell him the same day and get into another buy
-
realistic prices! I get everyone wants a green portfolio but unless you can actually sell at that price it means nothing.
ATM I could list Eiji Kawashima for 50p above his current sell price of 19p so 69p. (intentionally picked), Nice see of green they're, but their is 0 offers to buy so hes really worth 0. That 69p is nothing more than an illusion.

@Dan-The-Man I appreciate that you care enough about me to educate me on the current trading mechanics.
