Help

  • HIya Folks

Can someone help by explaining how the sell place an offer works.
It looks like you can offer to sell at 1p less than the buy price. If this is correct how is it possible to match buys at a much lower price?

Is it the case that you currently only have the option of instant selling or selling at 1p less than buy price?

    Cheers

  • @Buckramrod basically yes, although the 1p under is only a temporary measure

Yes, that is the case at the moment. Traders did have the power to set sell offers much further below the buy price but it lead to a lot of volatility (and a day that will forever be known as Brown Sunday), so FI quickly put the stabilisers back on. One of these measures is the 1p below buy limit.

When it comes to instant sell, it's worth having a look what price you can get for the shares you want to sell - often it's above the IS price that is being shown. Even if you're trying to get rid of 300 shares you may find the first 100 available for sale are a better price than what is being displayed, then sell off in dribs and drabs.

  • have you really been on since 2018 ?

    2 years ?

If that's right and you're not trolling over how ME and order books work right now it's best to look at one of the you tube vids, because the 1p below is a temp measure and it should gradually widen soon. best to be prepared for that or it may well cost you money on bids
