Friday 24th August - IPO Preview

  • IPO's are back with a bang tomorrow folks.

First of all forgive me for ignoring both keepers as I'm firmly of the opinion that they're more or less worthless outside of the top 200.

We have a mixed back of breakthrough stars and young potential so will take them in turn.

Colin Dagba - Played LB for PSG in their last 2 games, "probably" just keeping that place warm for Felipe Luis or A N Other but it's so early in Tuchel's reign that we don't know that for certain. I can't see any evidence of a goal threat BUT he's only 70p so I expect him to attract some attention, even though I don't think he's a Prime PB contender.

Matteo Guendouzi - Seen a lot of traders asking for this guy to be IPO'd but I think they'll be bitterly disappointed at the starting price of £1.20. I don't see any evidence of multiple goals in a season so in my opinion shouldn't be worth more than Henderson or Matic who play similar roles at currently higher profile clubs. There's been enough interest that he'll probably rise but I wouldn't recommend buying him myself.

Odsonne Edouard - Now here we could have a real baller on our hands. You can't argue that Brendan Rodgers has had some world class strikers under his stewardship and he rates this kid massively. His goal record is eye watering and if he lights up the Scottish or Europa League we could see a big money move as soon as January or next summer. I suspect he may well double in value tomorrow.

Ryan Gauld - Trying to break into Lisbon's first team at the moment and I can't see any sign of him being a World Beater although could be wrong. Maybe one for the most speculative of youth hunters.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka - The IPO timing for this kid is spot on, like Guendouzi I can't see much of a goal threat but the available stats are limited. We've seen Full-backs go through the roof over the past week or so and although I think £1 is a high IPO I wouldn't be surprised if the hype creates a lot of trading in him.

Alphonso Davies - The hype continues but with the added bonus that Bayern have bought this Canadian wonderkid and he's joining them in January. With limited data I decided to watch a quick video and wasn't blown away with what I saw but he did show glimpses of flamboyance and speed. I'd have liked to seen him IPO at 70-80p but he'll still probably race away. Hard to say for sure as we're dealing with a different trader market these days.

Emile Smith-Rowe - I had to take my Spurs blinkers off on this and I think Arsenal could well have a decent player on their hands here, once again limited data but he's quite prolific from midfield from what I can see and I'd have rather have him in my PF than Wan-Bissaka or Guendouzi who are 20p more.

Aleix Garcia - Couldn't see anything with this City loanee that makes me think I need to get in on his early.

David Hancko - This young CB is VERY interesting, time will tell on how much time he gets with Fiorentina but his goal record is an impressive 14 goals in 80 which cannot be ignored. There's a few goalscoring defenders that I feel are incredible value around the 70-90p range which I feel should be at least around the £1.50 mark and make 70p a great IPO price but until that transpires this kid might be better in your watch list until he nails down a place.

Keanan Bennetts - Putting my Spurs blinkers back on, a lot of our fans were NOT happy with this kid leaving us, he speaks well and is Bi-Lingual so should fit in straight away over in Germany, read a bundesliga report where they think they've picked up the next Gareth Bale due to his speed and power. He has a great goal record and although it might take him some time to establish himself I think they've got a great youngster on their hands. Compared to some youngsters he could be FI Gold within the next 12 months and 70p could represent great value.

Michael Cuisance - 10p more than Keanan but I couldn't really find any tangible reason why that would be the case - happy for people ITK to correct me on him??

Musa Barrow - Atalanta have some very creative talent in their support roles and now they appear to have a player who knows how to finish their chances, add this to their Europa League participation providing they progress and I think we have tomorrow's shining light. Seen a lot of requests for this guy to IPO and there's good money to be made if you can get in early enough.

Please note that the above review is aimed at giving an insight as to what value each player may offer in the short or long term. IPO's are notoriously difficult to buy at the cheapest prices especially when in high demand by thousands of traders so please refrain from moaning on this thread if you are unable to see the players at the cheapest prices.

  • @Agatello some pb info to add to this. I have calculated what bissaka and guendouzi pb would have been in first two games ( this excludes the bissaka red card and win/loss points)

    Guendozi chelsea - 107
    Man city - 80

    Bissaka Fulham - 78
    Liverpool - 28

  • @Noirx4 good stuff, decent enough base scores for Guendouzi against tough opposition but it underlines that without goals he ain't winning PB any time soon.

Wan-Bissaka is obviously in a more difficult situation with Palace probably winning and keeping clean sheets less etc.

However, we know that the Index isn't just about PB and logic flies out of the window time and time again so I still suspect they won't sit there untouched :-)

  • Not looked at IPOs before and for some reason I can't get the table of tomorrow's IPOs in the blog section to fit my screen on my android phone, even in landscape mode I lose the price column onwards off the right side of my screen.

Anyway out of interest when are they launched? Is it all at midnight or each at different points during the day?

  • @Legion I have to turn my phone side on to see the times so I usually stick to my laptop. They come on in batches during a 2 hour window mate. 5 @ 10-12, 4 @ 12-2 and 5 @ 3-5.

They "usually" appear within the first 20 mins of the window but I've seen a few times where they all come in during the last 5 mins which is annoying.

  • @Agatello
Cheers for that, I suspected the answer would lie further into the black hole that is the righthand side of my screen :D

Unfortunately I don't have a desktop or laptop, maybe I will have more joy booting up the old tablet in the bottom drawer...

Apologies for the crude formatting but there you go :-)

  • @Agatello
    Much appreciated , you're a star :-)

  • Forgive me for the stupid question, I’m new on here. When the IPO’s are released do you just buy futures in the normal way by searching for them by name or are they somewhere else first?

  • @NewUser164890 Personally never tried, but I could not see any other way of doing it.

  • @NewUser164890 The players drop into the squad section some time during their IPO window, usually the screen flashes green and then when you search for them they will come up.

However as mentioned above, IPOs are quite crazy, I often find my computer freezes and I have to watch as the player flies above their IPO price before I can even locate them let alone buy them.

    So, friendly words of advice;

    1. Have a maximum price you're willing to pay
    2. Stick to the maximum price you're willing to pay :-D
    3. If you can then buy maximum (100) - in the time it takes to type in 10 etc. the price will have jumped more.
    4. Assuming following rule 3, make sure you have more than enough to buy the player, ie. if you have £100 and hit buy max, if the player goes to £1.01 whilst it's processing you'll obviously get the warning that you have insufficient balance and lose even more time going back and typing 90 etc.
    5. Be aware you can not instant sell an IPO for several days
    6. Many IPOs drop once the IS becomes available so it's often possible to pick up a long-term hold at a much lower price after a few days.

    Good luck!

  • @AT10 Thanks for the device, very helpful

  • Another good review. I’d love a few Davies but after my last couple tries and an even bigger user base, I’m almost certain he’ll be £2+ before I even get close! With that says hopefully he’ll drop a bit and I can get a few cheaper. I doubt it though. Surprised at the prices of some of them too!

  • @FranklynMary Do you mean Tom Davies?

  • @HappyLarry59855 Alphonso Davies maybe?!!

  • Have to admit that fact that the arsenal lad that’s just IPO’D has went to 2.30 oddalready is mental 😂

  • It is ridiculous, he is a good player but no way he wins any dividends and he isn't even a guaranteed starter.

  • @Chris95
As I said yesterday it's the first time I have looked at IPOs and tried, as I'm sure everyone has before to come up with a strategy but failed miserably lol 😀

I do have a question related to this burning away as a result but Agatello specifically stated in the OP not to turn the thread into a moanfest after the event so out of respect I will save it just in case it encourages people to go in that direction.

Thanks again @Agatello for all your help yesterday, as Vinnie would say, "It's bin emotional." 😄

  • New to the ipo, this is the first ones since I've joined I think. I kept refreshing it for the Celtic player today, it didn't come up for ages and finally when it did around 10:30 it was up to £1:25 from 80p already! I hope it doesn't happen like that later because there was a player I wanted to go for but I fear it will. I'm thinking I might be better off waiting for the price to settle before investing. And advice is appreciated

  • @NewUser165544
Don’t get me wrong I defo see the value in Odsonne Edouard because even as a Celtic fan I can see much more potential in him than dembele, but the arsenal one just isn’t right 😂😂
