@Noirx4 nice. Is the profit shown here purely from purchases using your product? Or does it include deposit bonuses etc?
-
@NewUser162554 i would guess it includes deposit bonuses of which ive had £1,500.
Although i didnt have 18k deposited all year it was more along the lines of
Sept: £250
Dec: £2000
Mar: £5000
May: £10000
June: £18000

So this account update email I’ve just received. Says I’m £2800 in profit. Just wondering how accurate it’s is. It’s certainly very difficult to keep track of profit manually. For example does it take into account players that you sold for a loss and also the FI commission?
-
@Valhalla mines right,
It just add current portfolio value to cash in site and withdrawals together and takes out your deposits.It’s how much more you have than you have invested.
-
Does the statement actually show the process of A+B+C-D, or how they've worked it out?
-
@Ollie Yes, it states "All-time trading profit is calculated as:
Total Withdrawals + Portfolio Value (At BUY Price) + Cash Balance minus Total Deposits = All-Time Trading Profit"
Not the most accurate way to calculate profit, but the most positive one, so I don't blame them for using it.

yeah I think its worked really well - twitter was flooded with positivity last night and how much money people were making. Obviously not an accurate reflection as to realise some of that profit someone else's profit is reduced but it certainly got me wanting to get more money in the index!

Anyone know why I did not get this e-mail?
-
@NewUser81312 Have you checked your junk mail? Do you have email selected in your contact preferences? If yes to both, I'm out of ideas!
-
Where can I change contact preference? Thanks for reply
-
Don’t worry found it junk thanks again

@NewUser81312 Cool, no worries. If you ever want to change them it's under "Account details" on the left side of desktop or in the "Account" tab of the Android app.

So according to FI's formula, I've apparently doubled my money in 3 months, based on an average hold of £3k, (one third boosted by bonuses and dividends). All I have to do now is search my bank account to find this elusive £3k.
-
@Ollie Presumably it's in your portfolio/cash balance rather than your bank account ...?
-
The calculation is simply current Portfolio value - overall net deposit, not sure what the confusion is unless im missing something.
-
My fault, I hadn't set the the transaction start date to when I actually started, the FI one starts at a rolling 3 months, so I'm £2k up on an average £3k hold which is right. I'm foine with that atm as I'm long term, while I get to grips with weighing up 'in and out' short to medium term trading.

@Ollie
I had done the same thing a while back tbf which led me to contacting them to say my overall deposit figure was incorrect and then i realised that i hadnt moved the date back.At first i thought i had been foined
