PB Strategy

  • How are you approaching PB players and deciding who to invest in?

I have taken a shift from "Elite Club Players" and started to invest in big fish from smaller clubs who will play every minute and take set pieces, examples of these would be below.

Alejandro Gomez , Atalanta - Takes all set pieces inc. pens and scores goals, more often than not everything going forward goes through this guy.

Jean Seri, Nice - Not necessarily a big fish in terms of his name but takes most set pieces and scores goals from midfield, averages over 80 passes a game too.

Nabil Fekir - Lyon's captain and vocal point, again most things go through Fekir for Lyon again taking most set pieces he racks up points for crosses and shots, again a big fish.

I've also shifted towards lesser side players who take set pieces by taking most set pieces players have a chance of scoring a couple of goals from free kicks but the points they rack up from crosses alone gives them a good starting point before you factor in any other stats.

Max Philipp, Augsburg - Seen his name mentioned recently on the forum, the guy is a crossing machine, takes all set peices has 7 assists and one goal already, he made 17 crosses at the weekend with 6 being accurate, just a clean sheet and a win puts him in contention.

Leo Dubois, Nantes - Club captain for Nantes at 23 again another crossing machine, 13 crosses at the weekend with 7 being accurate.

These are a few of my ideas, just wondering how everybody else was approaching PB now that IPOs have began to settle.

  • Good list - should point out it's Philipp Max who's tearing up trees at Ausburg not Max Philipp (the latter IPO'd on the same day but is a different player!)

  • I'd definitely agree with the top half of the list, however old Phillipino Maxey Philly boy doesn't have the greatest historical stats - his current form is phenomenal but is it down to a freaky hot streak or maybe a more influential dead-ball role in the side! He is VERY tempting at his price and Augsburg are a dark horse this year.

I have a list of 87 must have's and 117 when I've got money to burn players. Once I've collected them all like little Pokemon's I'm happy to broadcast them :-)

  • @Dave-C Apologies yep, typo there 100% Augsburg full back - watched him on Sunday for a while and crosses for fun.

  • @Agatello I did reseach last year, the only thing that worries me is his passing stats.

he must have instructions to just get the ball out of his feet and deliver balls into the box, I watched him Sunday and that's all he did!

I am happy to broadcast players I have fully stocked up on, there are a few I am still looking at I just finished topping up on Verdi from Bologna, a set piece specialist forward. If he can find the back of the net regularly he will win his fair share of PB's

  • @Agatello how many futures on average per player would you say you own? I started buying 100 futures for every player i had but found it better to buy less players and more of each. Considering you say you have your eye on all these players do you have small amount of each one or are you just loaded? Haha.

  • @NewUser73132 I wish :-) I'm sticking to 100 if I can but I don't have all 87, can't afford 100 Neymars at the moment! Think the accumulative cost is about 12k for 100 of each

  • @Agatello yeah fair enough. I thought you must have spent a fair bit if you had that many.

I currently have 9 players mainly with between 500 and 1000 futures. I only have two expensive players who I've got 100 futures each of. I've not had great luck buying the expensive players so bought players I think may have a chance of big club moves or future England caps with the thought that if a player with 1000 futures rises just £1 altogether its a very decent profit.
