Withdrawal strategy

  • Not meant to be as blue as it sounds!

The gains are great on here etc but it’s all BS until you see the cash.

So how do you take yours out? Dividends? Sell a player in profit a month?

I’ve started well in value but miles off on dividends. Changing strategies already...

  • So far I haven't taken anything out. I'm looking at tripling my portfolio, then taking out what I put in so I'm simply playing with profits - completely de-risks the whole investment.
FI is clearly growing, and unless a trader is really bad or unlucky most of the buys will be in profit over 3 years. It seems silly to me to take money out at this point, unless it is really needed elsewhere.

  • Haven’t taken any out yet, looking at taking my initial deposits out August Time (pay for a holiday) then leave the rest to play with and sell as when I feel that player has reached his peak.

  • I tend to buy players with either a plan to sell at a certain percentage profit so when a player reaches that percentage i put them in the sell queue or a buy them with time factor in mind which could be next transfer window, end of the season or the full 3 year hold.
When the time comes to sell i reinvest whatever is needed to buy my desired futures of the next player either 50 or 100. Whatevers left i tend to withdraw

  • @Black-wolf Very similar here - now that the iOS app shows me dividends, I'm selling at a certain percentage growth if that player hasn't won any dividends. Yes I'll miss a few gravy trains but this is a sustainable way of enjoying compound growth, even when misjudging potential dividend winners. Harvey Barnes was the latest victim/success.

  • You don't withdraw money, that's not how it works :)

I don't like the idea of withdrawing little amounts... unless you need spending money from it. Otherwise you are just sitting on it in your normal bank account earning nothing, when can easily make money on the index.

I'm going down same route as @GregF … wait till I've earned enough to withdraw my total deposits and still be left with enough for a nice portfolio.

So far i'm £11,000 in the hole, worth £14,304 … i'd like to get to £20,000 ish and take out £10k.

If I go below my initial deposit i.e. a major crash in the market … i'll probably IS and withdraw what I have left, rather than chase any losses.

I'm the type to put £40 in a roulette machine, get to £500 and then think... "i'll do a £400 spin that way i'm still walking away with profit if I lose".. lose the spin, then look at the £100 with shame and disgust so do a £100 spin and walk away with nothing.... not going to do that with £11k in FI haha.

  • @GregF I must be really bad, been on a month or so and just seeing red with so called big names and some smaller punts.
Don't want to sell at a loss & its short term still but it isn't the easy capital appreciation you hear all about. Just my experience.

  • @Jim Been on about a month as well and up at the moment.
Strangely enough it's the top players I thought I should get in to that are loosers for me such as rashford, martial,Jose Felix but I feel these are safe bets long term.
Strangely though lots of the top 20 or so ranked players have decreased in price past couple of weeks.
Trying to diversify with a core half a dozen players from top 20 plus a couple of youngsters and some hopefully quality players linked with moves and maybe promotion to premier league.

I have researched so many players from different leagues and hope in time it will pay off.

Got about 12 players and only down marginally on 3.

Have faith and maybe a little luck and do your research.

All in all I'm enjoying the ride but so wish I'd been here six months ago lol.

  • @Vespasian32 could be worse, you could have my roulette skills. I'm the kind of guy who puts 20 quid into Roulette and walks away 3 minutes later with nothing.

I did that the other night in a casino and got arrested for indecent exposure

Smart move, then it doesn't feel like your pockets are empty 💪🏻

  • @Advinculas-Index at least it wasn’t sexual harassment ;)
