I think the lower the spread the more stable the player is? So if no-one is selling the two will be close, the more volatility in a player the higher the spread will go. That's why if you see someone dropping fast the spread will get huge.
I think that's right anyway, if anyone knows better please say.

Something to do with the formula Fi use.
They like to increase spread to stem a tidal wave of selling on some players.
