If Villa go up, will Maupay join?

  • Old Brentford manager in charge at Villa, he’s stated before that he’s still a big fan of Maupay’s......... could Villa be the team to take him to the Prem, should they get promoted tomorrow?

  • @NewUser305854

I think they'll make an offer for Maupay but he'll have better options on the table.

22 years old, bagging 25 goals with 8 assists last campaign. Seems ripe for a team like Leicester, who can't rely on Vardy forever.

  • @Dan-The-Man actually Leicester is a good shout, though is Maupay fast enough to be a replacement for Vardy? Leicester rely very much on his acceleration/speed in how they play.

  • @NewUser305854

Vardy's still quick but he's 32 and Rogers will want to have his replacement in the team. Right now Vardy's their only real option up top.

They loaned Fousseni Diabaté out to Sivasspor, so he could come back, but he's hardly proved himself to be prolific with a couple of goals in 16 games. Likewise Harvey Barnes has come through the academy and had a decent period at Watford but he's not at Maupays level.

Leicester are trying to keep Tielemans and that could cost some big money but with Maguire looking likely to leave for big money, they'll have some cash to splash. It's unlikely Rogers left his chance at a treble-treble unless he was promised money to spend either.

If not Leicester, West Ham would be another big team looking for a striker given Arnautovic's seeming demise at the club.

  • @Dan-The-Man don't know if Everton can be thrown in the mix they need an out and out striker. Would suit them quite well I think.

  • @Shippers

    Yeah, probably.

Can't see why a host of clubs wouldn't chase him given his age and class. It seems very unlikely Brentford will be able to keep him.

  • Should deffo get a move to a bigger team. The stats speak for themselves. He Is too good for the championship!!
