    • RE: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

@Chicken-Badge for your information I took a punt on Ibra, buying 500 at 51p out of nostalgia for the money he made me last year combined with the potential WC rumours and the fact that the Swedish market MIGHT buy him. It was a gamble and that’s the essence of FI, it’s a gambling platform. I haven’t pumped him up on here nor seen him being recommended on Twitter. I too would like to hear who has been doing so as none of us old school traders would do that as it damages the platform.

I risked my money to make money just like a cheeky tip at the bookies, end of story. Some might see that as a reckless gamble, but sometimes they pay off sometimes they don’t. I simply shared my experience to show a side to StevieMax’s initial topic thread. How dare you insinuate I took the money off new traders when I instant sold at a good profit. The question was asked-why would people waste money buying him and I gave the reason why I did. No pumping no dumping, just instant sold back to FI when I had found another investment opp.

@TradingJournal spot on! I had a cheeky punt and bought 500 at 51p and sold them off this morning making £115 profit after the commission. My rationale was that the WC rumours and Swedish market would push his price up, then he hit ‘that goal’ on his debut. Time to check out... always opportunities for a return.

    • RE: Luka Jovic- why is he only 54p

Ha love it, I’m back with a tan and just seen your excitement over Jovic StevieMax. Brilliant! Biding your time to swipe back.

I have to say well done on a great call, but I also have a little confession... After seeing him put in a decent performance on pb as well as factoring in the amount of effort and passion you put into pumping him I identified the obvious potential growth that could come and jumped into Jovic too, naughtily taking his price up 5p with my own investment. It doesn’t pay to be stubborn on the Index.

I don’t see him as a long term hold or even a trend of growth in him, especially as he’s only on loan from Benfica (thanks Si!) but for now he’s in the green for me at nearly £100 profit, so beers (or milk) all round.

Sadly it won’t be the Brum meet as I fly to Dubai that day, but at the next London meet we’ll share a bottle of green top 😉

    • RE: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Great articulate points made by BL_FI and Martino and not a spelling mistake in sight.

Agreed that being compared to ‘a smackhead selling a plasma’ is possibly the most ridiculous statement ever made on the forum. I simply shared my reason for buying into Ibra to balance out the original statement made by the guy who posted the thread and all of a sudden the profit patrol questioned the ethics behind it. They’ll be saying we can’t trade off inside sources next.

If anything it shows new traders to look out for opportunities, buy in when prices are low, take a punt if you’re feeling confident and get out with profit when you think the price has peaked.

That’s the fundamental behind Football Index.

    • RE: Pogba

Pogba is a media buzz, but for me the lead up to and throughout the World Cup will be Harry Kane. I had Pogba and held him for a while riding from £3.84 to £5.51 but was a little bit slow off the mark when he started falling. Sold my 1,250 Pogs and put the cash into England starters and a few other hunches ready for the summer buzz. I think it was Noir who coined Pogba as being a volatile priced player whose price rockets one week followed by a drop the next, which sums my experience with him up well. Expect a few buzzes but also a media drought and you’ll be fine.

@Noirx4 spot on. Been trading for nearly two years and it took me a hell of a lot longer to learn that the hard way, same with the so-called ‘Griezy Train’. Trade smart people and don’t let others sway you to boost their portfolios.

    • RE: Goalies are moving...??

I remember it being like this just before pb was announced...Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar creeping up towards £2.50 and lots of 🤨. I guess we’ll all start scouting goalies just incase.

If the whispers are true and Gks do get their own category they’ll rocket faster than the best ipos. It’ll be crazy.

    • RE: Where does your Index investment come from?

Profits from crypto currencies and other cyber investments. Float about 30% of my portfolio between FI and the other crypto investments. Not as interesting as it sounds but provides a healthy second income.

@Comrade probably people just taking him out of the selling que, a common misconception when prices move up a few pence.

@SMacFI defining 45% net profit as a bad trade is questionable. Personally hitting that profit margin in under 48 hours is a good trade in my eyes. I do however see where you’re coming from with regards anyone snidely trying to push prices up through the forum or Twitter whilst they own futures in them. That is certainly something that needs flagging to new traders.

However I cannot stress this point enough-I took a gamble based on trade experience that Ibra was at rock bottom when I jumped on. I did not hype him on the forum and haven’t seen anyone else do it either on social media.

I simply took a punt that paid off so I shared it AFTER I had sold to market, influencing no one to follow suit, but to give a contradiction to the original question - ‘why would anyone buy him?’ To make a trading profit.
