This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

RE: Cancel Buy Commission
@Timmy The thing is we all get that they are doing this for the money and fair play to them, they deserve it for taking the risk and setting the entire thing up. I have no problem with that, but there is a time and a place for creaming off some extra profits and this isn't it.

RE: Prince Jadon!
Sancho 21p divs total in the past 2 seasons. Good luck, but its definitely not for me!!

Supply vs demand
In the long run a players value is determined by the dividends they produce - there are loads of other threads on this - but over shorter periods its the balance of supply vs demand that counts. Real markets (i mean stock markets etc) can reach huge over or under valuations depending on whether everyone is trying to get in or get out. It makes absolutely no difference what you or I think something is "worth" - if everyone else is selling it, the price will go down. What is evident from the bid depth info we now have is that there is a huge excess of supply in the market - we sort of knew before from the number of players with no bids at all, but now with the bid depth it is clear that there are a lot more shares for sale than others are willing to buy. There may be a lot of "value" in the market but it would seem that overall no-one is willing to put their money where their mouth is.

RE: Compulsory valuations
@Metropolis Its all very well having a price at which you would sell, in your example Martinez for £5 but if he's trading in the market for £1.50 then that's all you are gonna get for him. I would love to sell all my FI holdings, or indeed all my possessions, for triple the current market value but the trouble is no-one is prepared to pay that. Whether at some point the rest of the market comes round to your way of thinking or not is the great unknown.

RE: Time To Scrap The Bid Zone
@AndydfopT I think the market is saying that the margin isn't wide enough. Take Dybala for example - I would be interested in putting a bid in on him but I have no interest in paying £2.89 for him which is the bottom of the bid zone, and clearly no-one else is interested in paying £2.89 for him either as he has no sell price. If there are people that "need" the money out of the index, or in this case Dybala, then at the moment they are just completely stuck - if there was a bid they would at least have a choice.

RE: Cancel Buy Commission
If they introduce this then the only potential "good" thing to come from it is that there should be a sea of bargains available after all the prices have collapsed another 50%+. On the other hand, if the introduction of the buy commission causes a total seizure of the market then the whole platform could collapse in which case we are all fucked. In the current environment I find it very difficult to see why they are so keen to bring this in unless their finances are in a terrible state. But even if they are strapped for cash, how much do they think this bid tax will raise? There aren't many bids around at the moment as it is, so they have a very small potential net upside and huge potential net downside. It makes no sense.

RE: Amazing value
@Timmy Yes I run a bunch of player screens and he's a very long way down it. As you say the expected returns are much greater on the lower end players simply because of the yields on offer. Totally agree on the buy comm - as per other thread there are 144 odd players with no bid.
"How can we encourage people to bid? Oh yes, lets introduce a bid tax" - you couldn't make it up. -
There will be even fewer bids around tomorrow
The market is falling. Bids are pretty thin on the ground - some players don’t even have one. Tomorrow a 2% commission is being introduced providing even less reason to bid. Madness.

Don’t know about a tough week, I have made absolutely no money this year😂

RE: I wish I didn't have most of my money in the bottom end 😪
All I have got left is bottom end stuff now. Pretty much everything else has been sold out of in the past weeks "buy now" frenzy. None of my players are old so I've no intention of selling anything below about 40p - they can just sit there for the next 7 years and if they manage to win a dividend or two over that period then they will have paid for themselves. Good luck to those staying in but I'm gonna take the money and run!!

RE: What's triggered this buying today🤔
I’ve managed to extract £10k+ in this rally, all at the offer price, which is handy. I liked football index but I just can’t be arsed with the randomness of it anymore. In a few months the prices may have tripled or the whole thing may have gone kaput, I just don’t know - and nor does anyone else.

@Burt your list is getting shorter Burt

RE: Going Green
I’d rather be buying players when they have fallen 60% than risen 60%

RE: Will F.I Go Bust
1% per day is actually over 3500% per year if you compound it

RE: Neymar at £4
@GeoffS We had a conversation about this a month or so ago and I came up with valuations even lower than yours. The trouble is since then we have had
- increase in trading costs
- massive increase in volatility
- further decrease in confidence
- increase in platform risk
All of which means that my required rate of return has had to go up a lot and so the valuations have collapsed further. I'd currently value Bruno at 2.08 and Sancho at 1.30 for example. In fact all the so called "premium" players are still way too high for me, the value is in the lower end of the market.

RE: Foden, Sancho if someone pips Pepe - i will go nuts ..
A head butt media win at the weekend and hopefully a star man tonight. At this rate he might repay the 2 quid that i paid for him 😂

RE: New King of Football Index Bruno Fernandes
It is crazy stuff but in this "new world" where player prices are supposed to be underpinned by dividends a lot of this move looks like bollocks. I'm selling players that I've made 100% on in the space of a few days, its ridiculous.

RE: Is Monday a big day?
@Timmy love it- a nice reasoned argument signed with a “but fuck knows” 😂
But of course you are right- no one can predict anything in this environment
