    • RE: What are people's final exit plans?

After two and a half years on the index I thought I was going to exit a few months ago when the index went a bit flat and then the div increase came along.

Although I’ve only had a small increase since then I am more than content to keep my money in for a lot longer now. My reason is that the powers at FI HQ want to keep the platform growing. Div increase, huge marketing campaign, Nasdaq. Therefore I can only see an upwards trend from here.

My new exit plan has changed to 2 years from now when I have hopefully made enough for a very substantial house deposit. So far I’ve turned £2k into £12,500 and now with a larger portfolio the gains are becoming greater.

    • RE: IPO's

When PB was introduced and players started to be added one player that sticks out in my mind that was way overpriced on IPO was James Milner. He IPO’d at £2.40 (old money) and went into the top 50 which was way ahead of a lot of well established players at the time.

As you can imagine there was a big uproar to this and this situation with Camavinga is reminding me of exactly that situation. The fact is James Milner is now 479th on the index and as mentioned over time all these players will catch up possibly making Camavinga look cheap again one day.

Having said that I think these IPOs are ridiculous. I’ve been guilty of a lot of screen time these last few days but still missed every single one. However after Camavinga last night I’ve now thought is it really worth it? Say you managed to get 300 at IPO price you would have only made roughly £150 after commission. I have to say there is way more to life than trying to make the odd £100 here and there. I won’t be looking out for any IPOs today, my health and time have got to be more important.

    • RE: It appears FI are listening.

Just out of no where they have given me some confidence again. The key is the market makers. If they stick to their word and the spreads tighten significantly, FI could really kick onto the next level!

    • RE: 🚨#FigCast Ep 139🚨 Football Index CEO & CTO join the show

@Splurger_Dan - we can continue to make excuses but with 4 of the top 5 leagues being active within a week from now, how much time do we give them to sort this out.

There is very little trading apart from the odd 100 players.

An unpopular opinion here - I’d rather they’d done nothing with instant sell when Covid hit and they let the market ride just like every other financial markets in the world. I personally think with football returning we would have been seeing amazing growth again whereas right now we are seeing a stagnant market which is being artificially propped up because no one can move any money around.

An interesting thing I’ve noticed today is that on a fair few of my sub £1 holds, is that the number of shares on the bid is now less than 300. Some less than 100. Do I have shit holds? Maybe? Or is it traders selling off or traders no longer making bids. If those bids go to zero then I really am stuck.

FI need to get moving. I really thought we might have some timescales about further stages of the ME or Nasdaq but again we have nothing to go on.

I hope I’m wrong in all this and in 6 months time I’m singing their praises again. I took 2 weeks away from it but maybe I need a little longer.

    • RE: How Open Are You That You Are Involved In FI?(Poll)

3 years in, 600% profit and I’ve still only ever told my partner who still disapproves!

This is a gambling product at the end of the day and I don’t think I could recommend it to family and friends on the basis they can still lose money.

In hindsight I wish I’d told people about it 3 years ago but today I’m less likely to tell anyone. It’s been difficult since the start of the year, especially since March!

@StinkyT25 - what a gem this turned out to be. I bought a 1000 at 39p based on your post and someone else on Twitter. Thank you! I just wish I’d bought more!

    • The Index is Starting to Rise

I’ve had a very static portfolio for nearly 3 months now with any gains in that time usually lost elsewhere. However the last 2 days have been different, the Footie is up quite significantly on both days and so is my portfolio!

Could this be the 5% deposit bonus or is the marketing push starting to take effect? Early days but if this is how January goes it could be an incredible month!

    • A Good Problem To Have...

I’ve been on the index since April 2017 but only properly invested in July 2018.

Back in July 2018 I deposited £2k having not been on for 6 months. This was a lot for me but as I had been on and off the index for over a year, seen the growth and understood how it worked I knew I would do ok.

However instead of doing ok, it has been exceptional and is now starting to turn into a life changing amount for me. My portfolio is now worth over £11k and it has risen nearly £3k in September alone!!

My problem is, when do I call it a day on the index? After all it’s only profit once all the players are sold and it’s in my bank account. However with a portfolio that is rising daily it is becoming very difficult to walk away from.

I know it gets asked a lot but how much further do you think the index will go? What are people’s exit strategies?

    • Bruno Peres

My best dividend haul in 3 years!

Initially owned 900 of him from 6 months ago. Sold about 550 of him at a loss after ME was introduced as the lower end was now deemed ‘worthless’ so held 350.

Then he put in 2 bigs scores in the last 3 weeks. The first he was subbed and would have won PB if not so I thought I’d top up. Then the next score happened so I knew it wasn’t a fluke and topped up some more.

I now hold 1200 but if it wasn’t for the shit instant sell I’d hold 5000.

Tonight I’ve been rewarded! 4p goal divs. Star man divs and I’m sure he must be a close contender for a top 3 place in TOTM.

      Very happy tonight!

    • RE: Team of The Month - July 2020 (regular update thread)

Bruno Peres has been my secret little top up. Nice to see him 10th on that defender list. His low score is 71 which he hit last night after being subbed.

@FI-Ads said in Are GK the best Value on the index:

Mendy - Rennes. I did a bit of research and the French team in the Europa league seemed to play a lot of Friday night games last season. Hoping this continues.

      A couple of things here:

      1. None of the Europa League sides last season played any league games on a Friday night. I guess you meant CL not EL and yes, quite a few times the CL teams played the Friday before and/or the Sunday after but...
      2. As of this coming season, the 3rd team in France doesn't automatically qualify for the CL group stage. Rennes will have to get through two qualifiers first (the 3rd qual rnd and then the Playoff rnd). Just somethign to keep in mind.

      Nice player though

Yeah sorry I meant Champions League. It was an early start to the day! The key will definitely be the qualifying whenever that may be! Hopefully a nice rise leading up to it.

@GarethG - great spot. Couldn’t resist buying a few. Even just for the IPD potential. 2 clean sheets in a row.

I’ve opted for this approach too. Still so many keepers below 50p with at least 20-30% upside potential. Although I’m already regretting selling a fair few yesterday. Sold Burki at 50p and Meret at 60p. I guess panic selling exists the other way and I definitely panic sold yesterday albeit at a very nice profit.

@Ddr - haha no. I’ve kept on Zentner and Walter Benitez. Just because I think Zentner still has some way to go and with Benitez I have a few Nice players already so have almost become a fan of that team. Not the best pre-season so far though, losing the first two!

Added a few back over night. I did have 15 but now have 5.

Mendy - Rennes. I did a bit of research and the French team in the Europa league seemed to play a lot of Friday night games last season. Hoping this continues.

Mat Ryan - index insights email from FI yesterday saying he was 5th on PB points scored this season.

Asenjo - likely to be in Europa league next season. Soria is 10p more and Getafe are less certain than Villarreal for qualification.

    • RE: Are GK the best Value on the index

@Vaughany - If we can trust AC that these market makers will significantly reduce spreads then topping up cheaply at the moment is a no brainer. Apart from the keepers the market is on a big slump at the moment so I think I’m personally going to sit with the cash balance waiting for FI to make a move (eg. deposit bonus) or for the tide to turn. I can’t personally see them allowing the market to gradually fall for the next 6-8 weeks so I’ll be waiting for it to change.
