    • Yet another new blog 😂

      Good morning peeps!

Ive just started a new Football Index related blog.

      https://indexscholar.co.uk

I’m going to be publishing content mainly twice a week covering lots of different topics like getting started as a new trader, PB scouting, fixture and market analysis, transfer speculation, etc.

I won’t be posting a separate thread every time I publish an article as I don’t want to clog up the forum. I’ll just be bumping this thread accordingly.

Released the first article just a few minutes ago and its basically an overview of the platform and explains everything a beginniner would need to know:

      https://indexscholar.co.uk/football-index-explained-the-ultimate-guide-2020/

Probably not much interest to those already on here but thought it would be good to publish this so it can serve as a reference point if need be.

Anyways that’s all. Feedback welcome 🙏🏾

    • Matchday Analysis - 6th February

Back with some more match day analysis!

For a detailed breakdown of Sunday's games, that will be made available from tomorrow at the Index Scholar Academy.

      Bayer Leverkusen [5] – [2] VfB Stuttgart

Leon Bailey produced an impressive display in his side's 5- 2 win over Stuttgart with a well taken goal and an assist.
He nearly scored after just 95 seconds, only to be denied by the glove of the opposition goalkeeper and the frame of the goal.

Bailey assisted Leverkusen's 2nd with a perfectly weighted through ball for Demirbay who slotted home. He then scored his 5th goal of the season to put Leverkusen 3-1 up.

Despite being positioned on the right-hand side, you could see Bailey cutting in from that wing and being involved in intricate pieces of play from the centre as well as the left.

74 minutes played, 3 shots on goal (2 on target), 4 key passes and 4 crosses marked a very good display from the Jamaican here.

Now he's just had a spike to £1.31 so I would let that settle down a bit. But he makes a decent case for portfolio inclusion nonetheless, with the ability to hit those peak scores evident on some of his notable past performances.

Kerem Demirbay hit 245 PB points with 2 goals here, scoring the 1st after converting a rebound in acrobatic fashion after a shot from Moussa Diaby was saved by the opposition keeper.

He nutmegged the goalkeeper for the 2nd with after being played through by Bailey.

Despite the performance, I would be wary of investing in Demirbay as his playing time this season has been sporadic to say the least. Although he's well capable of producing big scores as he has a decent enough base, at £1.18 I wouldn't be investing right at this moment.

      Schalke 04 [0] – [3] RB Leipzig

Christopher Nkunku's minutes are being managed quite a bit this season which is frustrating to say the least for those that hold him.

He's a PB player through and through, and he showcased his ability once again today with a 218 score in 83 minutes with just the 1 assist.

Leipzig lined up in a 3-1-4-2 formation with Nkunku playing as a second striker of sorts in this game. His stats were very good, with 2 shots, 4 dribble attempts (3 successful), 8 key passes and 5 crosses.

Being on free kicks and left-hand-side corners also does Nkunku good. In this game his set piece delivery was impeccable, as he whipped in a great ball for Nordi Mukiele to get on the end of for Leipzig's 1st.

He also had a good chance to make it 2-0 after being played in by Angelino, but placed his shot just wide of the far post
It's just a shame that he hasn't been able to complete 90 minutes from the 8th of December last year.

At the £1 mark and below however, he is a risk worth taking, as when he explodes with a 250+ score I have no doubt he will get a significant rise in price owing to the fact that he's still fairly young at 23 and plays for an attacking side under the stewardship of Nagelsmann.

Marcel Sabitzer made the score comfortable at 2-0 after being played a diagonal ball across the face of goal by Angelino.

Unlike Nkunku, Sabitzer is getting much more 90-minute games and having the captain's armband also suggests he's more likely to play a key role in games.

His PB threat is not as great as Nkunku’s, but he shows glimpses here and there as evidenced by the 178 points with no goals or assists he recorded on the 2nd of January.

At £1.05 I'd rather invest that money in his compatriot Nkunku or look to acquire him for 70p-80p on bids.

Willi Orban made it 3-0 to the visitors and he's an example of how stacked Leipzig's defence is.

Halstenberg, Upamecano, Klostermann, Mukiele and Orban all tussling for minutes in this side. They're all fairly good for PB so if you're looking for a defensive pick here, I'd opt for either Halstenberg or Upamecano, as the latter appears to be nailed on when compared with the others.

Mats Hummels [DEF – Borussia Dortmund]

Mats Hummels registered another very respectable PB score of 157 in a 2-1 away defeat at SC Freiburg.

103 accurate passes (87.3%), 2 key passes, 9 long balls (6 accurate), 7/9 aerial duels won and 4 clearances here.

His PB average in the last 7 games stands at an impressive 156.8 too.

Even a 69p buy price for a 32-year-old would not put me off with the scores he's been delivering.

He's a solid defensive option for any portfolio as he will almost surely win another match day or two this season barring injury or a calamitous collapse in form.

      Huesca [1] – [2] Real Madrid

Raphael Varane delighted holders with a star man win in his sides 2-1 victory over Huesca.

261 points with 2 goals was a delight for holders who acquired him at the 35p-40p mark a few weeks prior.

There's no doubt he's under-priced, as he's at the prime stage of his career and plays for two of football's biggest teams in Real Madrid and France.

He realistically should be around 90p-£1, so even now at 65p I still believe there is capital appreciation to be made.

But I wouldn't be buying in on the back of a PB win as no doubt his price will fall back to the 40p-50p mark, which is when I'd be tempted to place the bet.

Toni Kroos* showed why he's a PB juggernaut on the Football Index, registering a score of 230 with no goals or assists and a yellow card!

118 touches, 95 accurate passes (96%), 6 key passes, 6 crosses and 12/13 accurate long balls

It really would only have taken a single goal involvement from him to top midfielder and possibly star man here, and at £2.07 he still looks to be very good value with Champions League fixtures and Euro 2021 on the horizon.

      Sevilla [3] – [0] Getafe

Joan Jordan will have turned a couple of trader's heads with his display in this 3-0 win against Getafe. He played a pivotal role in Sevilla's disallowed 1st goal by making a well timed run and crossing the ball in from the by line. However, Lucas Ocampos was adjudged to have handled the ball with his arm so it was chalked off.

But that didn't deter Jordan as he delivered a sublime through ball over the top of the Getafe defence which Munir El Haddadi put past the keeper to make it 1-0.

Joan Jordan would be an excellent hold if he was guaranteed 90 minutes for the majority of games, but unfortunately that's not the case.

Today he managed to finish the game which makes such a difference for his stats and overall PB performance.

      126 touches, 105 accurate passes (90.5%), 2 shots, 3 crosses, 13 long balls and 4 key passes

At a price of 65p (55p on bids) he is worth the outlay as he's a player who in my view should be trading around the £1 mark.

Jules Kounde produced a mammoth score of 229 with no goals or assists.

By numbers he made 94 accurate passes (94%), 1 key pass, 2 crosses, 3 long balls and 3 successful dribble attempts out of 3.

Manchester City were rumoured to have made a move for him before they eventually brought in Dias and it's clear to see why.

He's comfortable with the ball at his feet and finds it easy stepping out of the defensive strata with the ball.

Some of his previous PB scores also make for good reading, with a 173 against Cadiz (no goal involvements) and a 133 against the tougher Real Sociedad (no goal involvements).

At 99p I'd personally sit patiently and wait to see if he'll drop down in price just a little bit, but even so I like the look of him at £1 as he's got solid PB game and potential transfer links if he keeps this level up.

Alejandro Gomez also caught my attention with his performance coming off the bench.

He came on at 56 minutes and sealed the game on 87 minutes with a powerful left footed shot which took a big deflection on its way to the top corner of the net.

He looks to have taken over Banega's role in this Sevilla side, and his 152 points with only 33 minutes on the pitch are a good indicator that he will be able to replicate the Argentinian's performances in this creative midfield position.

At 32 years of age however, I'd err on the side of caution when it comes to investing here.

94p is an okay price to acquire Gomez considering that he's down from his 1 year high of £1.67, but I'd be a bit more comfortable picking him up at around the 50p-60p mark that he was trading at a few weeks prior.

      Olympique Lyonnais [3] – [0] Strasbourg

Memphis Depay stole the show as his Lyon side were victorious against Strasbourg.

He played 72 minutes and came off with 2 goals and a PB score of 232 which was enough to win match day dividends on a gold day.

For the 1st goal he capitalised on a loose ball from the Strasbourg midfield to slot past the keeper on a 1v1, whereas the 2nd was a magnificently curled free kick into the top corner, which brought him to 13 league goals for the season.
Memphis has been relatively quiet on the PB front ever since links to Barcelona surfaced so it's good to see him get back to the PB scoring heights that we know he is capable of.

His game by numbers included 4 shot attempts (all on target), 2/4 successful dribbles, 27 accurate passes (79.4%), 1 key pass and 2 crosses.

At the £1.90 mark however I would steer clear due to the fact that his future at Lyon is still uncertain. This is because the Barcelona move fell through due to the Spanish side not having the necessary funds to complete the deal.

His PB potential may take a hit if he were to join Barcelona and I wouldn't want to be left holding the short end of the stick with him.

However, with the Euro's coming up in the summer and him being Holland's main man up front I believe there is possibility for him to hit the £2.50 price point.

Leo Dubois performed once again as he delivered a 171 PB score without any goal contributions at the opposition end.
55 passes (87.3%), 2 key passes, 5 crosses and 3/6 accurate long balls shows that he's able to get involved on both ends of the pitch to good effect.

At the 80p mark however he's more or less reached his 1-year high and I'd not be buying in at this point with the current state of the overall market as it is.

I'd be much more inclined to wait for a drop to the 50p-60p mark or try and acquire him via bids within that ballpark range.

Nayef Aguerd [DEF – Stade Rennais]

The Moroccan born 24-year-old only managed 124 points against Lorient but his past scores give holders reason to be encouraged.

At the start of the year he delivered a score of 192 against Nantes with no goal involvement as well as a 168 against Lorient in the reverse fixture, again with no goals or assists in that game either.

With age on his side at 24 and the fact that he plays in a team that likes to keep hold of the ball, he looks a decent pick up at 78p.

You only need to look at the 312 score he managed with a goal against Stade Brestois to see that there's a good possibility that he can win on a gold day in the future.

      Wojciech Szczęsny [GK – Juventus]

Szczęsny* is beginning to deliver on the PB front. He claimed top goalkeeper here with a PB score of 174.

Some notable stats here include 3 saves, 42 accurate passes, and 10 long balls (4 accurate).

I like him as a hold because Pirlo encourages the team to play out of the back and also due to the fact that they're not rock solid in defence and give away multiple chances in games, which allows Szczęsny the opportunity to make some saves as opposed to being barely tested in games like other top keepers.

Juventus have undoubtedly been well short of their usual clean sheet tally by this stage of the season and it's only in the past 3 games that they've begun to shore up, with 3 shut outs in the last 3 now.

Before this good spell, a Szczęsny holder would have to go all the way back to a 3-0 home win against Sampdoria on the 20th of September for the Polish international's last clean sheet.

Even with the removal of clean sheet IPDs he looks a solid shout in the Goalkeeper category, as at the 40p mark he's not as expensive as the other options out there playing for top teams like Alisson, Ederson and Neuer.

      Bukayo Saka [MID – Arsenal]

Arsenal are underperforming but one player who is carrying the London side from game to game is Saka. He's posted some notable scores in the last couple of games which are worth pointing out.

174 in a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, 201 with a goal and assist against Southampton, and 154 in a 0-0 with Crystal Palace.

Now he has spiked recently and at £2.50 I wouldn't be taking my wallet out as I'm sure his price will dip again, but he is one to keep an eye on.

A better entry point would be at the £1.50 - £1.70 mark in my opinion, but if he dropped to anywhere near the £1.02 mark that he was on the 22nd of December last year, I would be buying in swiftly.

      Dwight McNeil [MID – Burnley]

Now Burnley are not a side renowned for playing swashbuckling football, which is why it's all the more impressive when Dwight McNeil continues to put up these decent scores from time to time.

163 points against Brighton here with no goals or assists, 10 crosses, 4 long balls, 2 shots and 2 dribble attempts.

He's a player that probably needs a move to a more attacking side in order to fulfil that potential, but on the flip side a move away to such a team could lead to less playing time.

At 55p there's not much risk here as he's young, English and Burnley should be safe from relegation, as well as the fact that he could garner interest from a few clubs in the summer window. However, his contract is set to expire in 2024 so Burnley won't necessarily be in a desperate position to sell.

And that marks the end of this weekend's analysis, so I'll see you next weekend!

    • Matchday Analysis - Saturday 13th February

Welcome to this weekend's analysis! Will post my thoughts from Sunday's games on the Academy website.

      So, let's begin...

      Barcelona [5] – [1] Deportivo Alaves

Lionel Messi took most if not all of the plaudits for his side's performance in their 5-1 win over Deportivo Alaves.

2 goals and an assist saw him claim top forward and star man with a score of 303 points.

He took his first in typical Messi fashion, cutting in from the right-hand side and smashing the ball into the bottom corner just before halftime to make the score more comfortable at 2-0.

And his 2nd goal of the night was even better, delivering a powerful strike into the top corner to make it 4-1 to the home side.

We've seen much better body language and performance levels from him in the last couple of weeks, as he really seems to be enjoying linking up with Pedri.

As a short-term performance buzz hold, Messi is one of the best options out there. He fits the matrix like a glove, and you only need to take a look at his individual stats to see why.

This game, he registered 6 shots (5 on target), 4 dribbles, 58 accurate passes (81.7%), 3 key passes and 3 crosses

His price is also relatively stable, with it hovering around the £4.70 - £5.20 mark for the last few weeks now. However, as he now approaches 34 years of age, the risk of holding him does increase slightly.

The upcoming Champions League clash with PSG is likely to have some sort an effect on his price in my view. Get through to the next round and he's likely to get a small rise or maintain his current level, whereas if they crash out early, there could be a bit of a sell off. The latter outcome could be a good chance to pick up some shares on cheap bids.

More so, there is still speculation surrounding his future at the club, which is good in the sense that he will have opportunities to collect media dividends as the news outlets continue to write stories about a potential transfer to PSG or Man City.

In summary, he's still a fantastic Football Index hold at this moment in time and if they get past a Neymar-less PSG on Tuesday, there will be even more PB dividend opportunities for holders as the less congested gold days begin from the Champions League Quarter finals and onwards.

Riqui Puig also impressed with his performance here.
146 points with no goals or assists for the 21-year-old who has only just started to get a bit more minutes in this Barcelona team.

His stats from the game were very encouraging as well, with 105 accurate passes (93.8%), 2 key passes and 2 long balls

Also saw a post on the official forum that indicated his PB score per 90 minutes stands at 192 for the last 12 months. When you compare that with PB giants like Kevin De Bruyne (195) and Bruno Fernandes (181), he looks to be on the right trajectory.

However, his minutes are limited at the moment so he hasn't been afforded as many chances to show what he's capable of.
All in all, a good long-term hold to watch, especially at 72p bid price.

Clement Lenglet was brought back into the team recently and put up 168 points tonight to come 6th in the defender category for the match day.

Very decent score with no goal involvements as Barcelona dominated possession for large periods of the game.

Admittedly I hadn't kept up with Lenglet's performances for a long while and was surprised to see Umtiti start over him when the latter looks to be finished at the top level.

He is a very solid defender when on form and he should keep his spot in the team for now as Ronald Araujo is still yet to recover from injury, and with Pique only just returning.
57p buy now wouldn't tempt me enough but a price of about 25p - 30p on bids would be much more ideal.

      Napoli [1] – [0] Juventus

Lorenzo Insigne scored the only goal of the game as Napoli saw off Juventus in a 1-0 win.

After 29 minutes his team was presented with a set piece from the left-hand side. He whipped in the cross which Szczęsny was able to comfortably gather.

However, Insigne's team mate Rrahmani was hit in the face by the flailing arm of Juventus defender Chiellini. With Rrahmani wincing in pain, the referee decided to look at the on-pitch monitor to see what had occurred. And after a few minutes he awarded Napoli the penalty which saw them win the game.
Insigne stepped up to convert it with a powerful strike into the roof of the goal.

His stats for the game were solid despite Juventus having 63% of possession.

60 touches, 34 accurate passes (82.9%), 4 crosses, 6/7 accurate long balls, 3/5 successful dribble attempts and 4 shots (2 on target).

With the majority of the creative burden resting on Insigne's shoulders in this Napoli side, £1.38 on bids for the Italian doesn't look too high a price to pay.

His PB record since the beginning of 2021 is pretty good as well, as he's just recorded his 3rd 200+ score in 8 games since the start of the year.

Very decent player to hold, especially with the Euro's on the horizon.

Mario Rui has started 4 of the last 5 games for Napoli but produced a fairly average score of 114 tonight.

He's a player with decent PB threat, having won 14p in dividends over the past year.

The promise of more is there, as he's delivered scores of 140 and 142 last month without goal involvements against Spezia and Cagliari respectively.

And at 27p on bids, he looks a decent enough punt when Napoli come up against easier opposition considering the fact that his price has hovered around the 70p - 80p mark in the last year.

Despite the marginal 1-0 away defeat to Napoli, Federico Chiesa had a good game.

He's caught my eye this season mainly due to the fact that he's listed as a Forward but plays in either midfield as a winger or as a wing back as part of a 5-man defence.

Playing on the left wing in this game, he notched an impressive 145 points.

23 passes (85.2% accuracy), 4 key passes, 5/10 accurate crosses, 4 accurate long balls (100%), 4 shots, 4/6 successful dribbles and 1 big chance created

What's more is that he could have easily had a goal today, as with Juventus pushing for the equaliser, he had a shot from the edge of the area saved by Meret on 56 minutes and a shot that he dragged agonisingly wide on 84 minutes after having the ball laid off for him by Danilo.

The main drawback with Chiesa though is that he doesn't get to play full 90-minute games consistently.

Since the start of the year he's only played 2 90-minute games, getting subbed off on the 74th, 63rd, 86th, 84th and 82nd minutes in the matches he was brought off.

But at £1 highest bid and at the tender age of 23, there's still plenty of time for him to cement a position in the Juventus starting line-up, and he'll be in an around the Italian side for the Euro's this year as well.

      Manchester City [3] – [0] Tottenham Hotspur

Rodri was the winner of Saturday's midfield PB category as he finished the day top of the standings with a score of 244 points. He netted the winning goal as he dispatched Man City's opener from the penalty spot.

He's a player who has always fallen into the category of those that are good for PB due to their consistently high base scores, but who often fall short of the top prize due to the fact that they lack the goal threat which would allow them to hit the necessary peak scores when they do find the net.

As the deepest lying midfielder in City's setup, he's primarily tasked with recycling possession, building up the play from deep and breaking up opposition counter attacks, which is why he doesn't score very often.

But his goal threat got a bit of a boost as he stepped up to take the penalty at the weekend ahead of Gundogan, who missed one against Liverpool in the previous fixture. Despite scoring from the spot, Guardiola didn't appear convinced with Rodri as the designated penalty taker, with Hugo Lloris able to get a hand to the ball on its way in.

So that leaves traders who were considering Rodri as an option, back at square one. If Guardiola does decide against Rodri taking penalties in the future - as he suggested that Ederson could line up for the next one - the latter will simply go back to being a decent PB option with good base scores without the goal threat.

It wouldn't be the worst scenario however, as Rodri is still a player very capable of winning PB - particularly in this dominant City side - but just not to the frequency that he likely would with penalty taking as added responsibility.

At 81p on bids he's not the worst pick in the world, but there are a few midfielders on the Football Index in this price range with similar PB potential and better goal threat.

Zinchenko is looking more and more like a must hold with each passing game. 200 PB score today with no goal or assist, and you only have to look at his past scores to see what he's capable of. This is his 4th score above 200 from the 1st of December 2020, and he hasn't had any goal involvements within that timeframe.

You can still pick him up for less than £1 right now, which is cheap especially when compared to his team mate Cancelo who plays on the opposite side and is trading at £1.79.

He looked to be out of the City picture for a long while but Benjamin Mendy looks to be finished at the top level for Manchester City at least, which has afforded Zinchenko much more game time than traders had anticipated.

With Man City set to face Moenchengladbach in the Champions League Round of 16, there's a high possibility that they progress to the next stage which has the very lucrative gold match days on offer. I'd be willing to bet that City will get quite far this year based on the form the team is showing at the moment.

Ederson dazzled football fans across the globe with his brilliant assist for Gundogan in Man City's 3-0 win over Tottenham. 162 PB points today and he can count himself unlucky to not come away with the top dividend prize for the goalkeeper category.
His stats from the game were as follows:

3 saves (2 from inside the box), 19 accurate passes (86.4%), 1 key pass, 4/6 accurate long balls and 1 big chance created

It shouldn't come as much surprise to those who've been watching City over the last few years that Ederson is well capable of launching defence splitting long range passes, but for Pep to suggest that he is also capable of being City's main penalty taker means that he must really rate his ability to remain composed and his technique on the ball.

59p if you were to buy now is not a bad price for a goalkeeper that plays for arguably the best side in world football at the moment. And at 27 he's still got plenty of years left. If he does end up taking penalties for City then that price would be even more of a bargain.

      Leicester [3] – [1] Liverpool

Wilfred Ndidi's health and fitness is so crucial to this Leicester team. He breaks up so many opposition moves through tackles and interceptions and his overall contribution to the team is reflected quite well through his PB stats. 199 today with an assist against Liverpool, who had 62% possession here. That's not bad at all!

He's got no sell price at the moment so it shouldn't be too difficult to acquire him for 38p, which is the bottom of the current bid zone on him.

The downside is his lack of explosiveness when it comes to PB (5p in match day dividends since he IPO'd) and that's mainly down to the fact that he doesn't score enough to be a consistent dividend threat. His last score over 200 came all the way back in September 2019 where he registered 229 points with a goal against Newcastle.

More so, with no Euro's involvement coming up there aren't many good reasons to hold, even at the 40p mark, apart from the fact that his base scores are decent for a more defensive minded midfielder playing in a more progressive Leicester side these days.

Ultimately, he is a player capable of challenging for a positional PB win on the Football Index, just not with much regularity.

Trent Alexander Arnold holders cannot wait for him and Liverpool to turn their fortunes around. Despite the losing performance against Leicester, Trent recorded a respectable 167 points with no goal involvements.

130 touches, 51 accurate passes (68.9%), 2 key passes, 11 crosses, 7 long balls, 3/5 successful dribble attempts and 1 big chance created are not stats to be scoffed at.

Now I've seen a stat pointing out that Trent has been giving the ball away frequently:

      • 45 losses of possession against Leicester (13th February)
      • 39 losses of possession against Burnley (21st January)
      • 38 losses of possession against Southampton (4th January)

But what stats like these fail to take into account is the risky and creative nature of Trent's game. Liverpool fullbacks are the team's main sources of creativity, as the midfield 3 setup are there for breaking down opposition attacks through counter-pressing and recycling possession safely when the fullbacks have bombed forward.

Trent plays the ball into channels of space for Salah to run onto and for the past couple of years Salah has thrived on that ball supply. So, he's more likely to have a higher number of giveaways than other players because he's mainly tasked with breaking down defences via through balls and whipped crosses.

So, at the end of the day if I was a Trent holder, I wouldn't be worried too much. With key injuries to Gomez and Van Dijk, Liverpool's fullbacks haven't been able to get forward as frequently as they usually do, because the pace of Gomez and Van Dijk allowed them to play high up the pitch. Having to sit a bit deeper and the loss of some set pieces has certainly stifled Trent's game to an extent, but he's still scoring well enough to be a PB threat which is what matters to traders.

He can be picked up at around the £3 mark on bids and he's still way down from his 3-month high of £6.21. If he's involved at the opposite end you can be sure that he will be there or thereabouts from the top of the PB standings in the defender category.

Paris Saint Germain [2] – [1] OGC Nice

Idrissa Gueye caught my attention here with his PB score of 180 with no goal involvements in PSG's 2-1 win over OGC Nice.

He's a footballer who plays quite like Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi, breaking opposition play and linking up with short, safe passes in midfield.

This kind of score from him also isn't a one off as he's posted a 171 against Nimes (no goal involvements) on the 3rd of February and a 180 against Lorient with only 77 minutes played (again no goal involvements).

There have been 3 occasions in the past where he got on the scoresheet for PSG, although unfortunately for him in 2 of those games he only managed to play for 26 minutes (vs Angers on 2nd October 20202) and 12 minutes (vs Strasbourg on 23rd December 2020).

But in the one game that he scored and played 90 minutes (vs Angers on the 5th of October 2019), he recorded a very good PB score of 236.

So, the threat is certainly there. It's just that at 31 years of age and with no Euro's ahead for him, there's not going to be many more opportunities for him to return a dividend.
Nonetheless at a buy price of 18p and with no bids at present, the risk isn't that great.

Leandro Paredes is another PSG midfielder showing decent PB potential.

168 with no goals or assists against Nice here is not bad by any stretch.

111 accurate passes (93.3%), 2 key passes, 2 crosses, 2 shots, 1 big chance created and 6/7 accurate long balls played

He's also got a respectable PB average of 144 in the last 6 games.

What lets him down is the fact that his playing time is carefully managed - he tends to come off in the 2nd half of games quite regularly - and it's a trend that's continued even with the hiring of Pochettino.

However, at only 26 years of age and available for 31p on bids he's not the worst shout.

      Sevilla [1] – [0] Huesca

Diego Carlos keeps chugging along at the heart of Sevilla's seemingly impenetrable defence, as he recorded 169 points in the slender 1-0 win over Huesca.

He managed 51 passes (92.7%), 1 cross, 5 long balls, 11 clearances, 2 blocked shots, 3 interceptions and 2 tackles here which is very solid.

In the past he has been linked to the likes of Liverpool, but with his contract set to expire in 2024 it would take a big offer to see him move away from the Spanish side.

At the moment he doesn't have any bids and can be picked up at 37p if buying immediately. That's quite a cheap price to pay and it makes him a very tempting option, especially as he's still only 27.

Yassine Bounou made it a staggering 7 clean sheets in a row as he registered 135 points in the goalkeeper category.
That score wasn't enough for him to win dividends today but with the upcoming Champions League against a shaky Dortmund side, he will be confident of continuing the streak.

42p highest bid for a goalkeeper in such form is quite cheap in my opinion.

Edmond Tapsoba [DEF – Bayer Leverkusen]

Edmond Tapsoba was very close to the top of the PB charts with a 3rd place showing in Leverkusen's disappointing 2-2 draw against Mainz at home.

They looked comfortable for the majority of the game but they conceded on the 89th minute and a late defensive lapse from Sven Bender allowed Kevin Stoger to score the equalizer in stoppage time.

Tapsoba is only 21 but is showing quite a compatibility with the existing matrix. He's got a PB average of 140 in the last 8 games, all of which he didn't manage a single goal involvement.

That's quite encouraging as it's the sort of range where an attacking return can make all the difference.

He's £1.84 to buy now and around £1.50 on bids, and it's clear to see why he's commanding such a price, as he's young and plays for a PB friendly side who will win a lot of games. Ultimately, a good long term buy.

Raphael Guerreiro [DEF – Borussia Dormund]

Raphael Guerreiro has been relatively quiet on the PB front as Dortmund are a side desperately struggling for form.

But I thought I'd give him a mention today seeing as he was able to deliver a score of 153 against Hoffenheim with a single assist.

Despite playing in a more withdrawn left back position in a 4-2-3-1, his stats were quite positive:

67 accurate passes (80.7%), 2 key passes, 4 crosses, 5/7 accurate long balls and 2 big chances created

You only have to go back to September last year where he was trading at the £2.10 - £2.17 mark! With his highest bid currently at £1.11 I see little risk buying in here as he's a player capable of getting to the £1.70 - £1.80 mark at least with a string of good performances. Value all over the shop at the minute.

Emiliano Martinez [GK – Aston Villa]

Emiliano Martinez is showing why Aston Villa were willing to acquire him from Arsenal for £20m. 186 points from him today to come top of the goalkeeper category.

Even though his side weren't able to get past Brighton today, he was immense between the sticks:

9 saves (4 from inside the box), 16 passes (69.6%) and 9/16 accurate long balls played

His buy now price is 58p which wouldn't have me scrambling to buy, but he looks capable of winning his fair share of dividends. He posted a 150 against Arsenal last week, a 136 against Southampton on the 30th of January and a 145 against Newcastle on the 23rd of January. For the goalkeeping category which doesn't have winning scores that are as high as the other positions, those are promising scores which can very well be winning ones on certain match days.

In my opinion, he's a solid pick up at around the 45p - 55p mark.

And that's it for this week. It ended up being a bit longer than the ones in the previous weeks but hope you still found it useful. Until next time!

    • Matchday Analysis - 30th January

      Greetings everyone,

With the platform in full on rocket mode at the moment I thought it would be good for me to start contributing more on here.

So, I’ve committed to making the forum better by posting my own analysis of the weekend action. This will hopefully be a regular feature on here so hope you all like it.

I’m going to be picking out teams/players who have had notable performances and providing an analysis on their FI prospects. I do hold some of the players I talk about but with a 7-player portfolio most of the players I mention I don’t have a stake in.

Anyways enough said let’s get down to it.

      Eintracht Frankfurt [3] - [1] Hertha Berlin

Kostic missed a great opportunity to make it 2 goals in 2 games as he narrowly dragged a shot just wide of the far post after being played through by Amin Younes. Provided an assist for Silva with a brilliant whipped cross into the box. Overall however, it was an ok game from him tonight, as other than the assist he lost possession 23 times and only made 23 accurate passes. His crossing numbers are still good though as he made 10 attempts this game, with only 2 successful. Still a decent hold at £1.10.

Amin Younes played Kostic through for a great chance that the later wasn't able to convert. He's classed as a Forward but plays just behind Silva. For 31p I wouldn't be jumping the gun to invest here, as his PB scores are not great. He also gets subbed off around the 60th - 70th a fair bit.

Andre Silva on the goal trail again! He scored his 15th of the season with a bullet header. He then scored a penalty to seal the points. 175 PB points and another brace for him and I cannot stress how good his form is at the moment. Won't have many buyers unfortunately as IPDs are set to be removed from the 8th of February. And as his base isn't that good he will struggle to win PB dividends unless he can bag a hattrick.

Martin Hinteregger scored the winning goal with a header in the 84th minute. He used to play as a left back but now plies his trade at the heart of a Frankfurt back three, which somewhat limits his attacking potential. But nonetheless he is decent for PB (223 PB today) and can be relied upon to get the full 90 minutes. His sell price is currently 24p so to pick him up on a bid at near that price is a good shout.

      Borussia Dortmund [3] – [1] Augsburg

Sancho finally delighted his holders with a PB star man win, notching a good score of 236. He put away the game winning goal which played a part in him sealing the 28p dividends. For a gold matchday it's not a score that usually wins, but as with any matchday, all you need is a bit of luck and a dividend win is on the cards.

Sancho is normally a player that massively divides opinion across the Football Index social circles, as some question his ability to win PB dividends. More so, with the Manchester United move not looking very likely due to the English side's apparent unwillingness to pay the estimated £100m+ price tag and the Amad Diallo signing, his MB appeal does not look particularly great at this moment in time.

That being said, the papers will still publish stories about him making a move back to England and that will drum up trader interest on the Index at some point.

For now, with 3 PB scores above 200 this year, it seems as though the performance tide may be turning. No doubt he is an insanely talented player at his age, but for him to sustain his £8.39 buy price at the time of writing, he's got to keep delivering on the matrix.

Thomas Delaney surprised me I must admit. He scored the equaliser here, getting on the end of a Reus cross and ended up with a tidy score of 223! At only 24p he's one to watch to see if he can continue to replicate this level. He's playing the full 90 minutes more regularly now too. His next highest score after what he achieved today is 146, and there's a string of 120's and 130's there as well so the potential is definitely there.

Haaland didn't manage to get on the scoresheet today, as he missed a penalty that he smashed onto the crossbar. However, he did deliver the cross which led to the own goal that made the score comfortable at 3-1.

42 PB points this game and for a player that costs £5.40, I'd suggest that you steer well clear for the time being. Haaland's value on the Index mainly lies in his media appeal through transfer speculation, as with Mino Raiola as his agent you can be sure that links to the Premier League or other big sides will pop up soon. No doubt a quality player, perhaps one of the most talented forwards of the upcoming generation alongside Greenwood, but I wouldn’t be buying personally.

      Inter Milan [4] – [0] Benevento

Christian Eriksen put in a performance that we've come to expect of him over the years. Playing in the middle of a midfield 5, he registered a 226 PB score. 129 touches, 100 passes completed (90.9% accurate), 2 key passes, 11 crosses 14 long balls and 1 big chance created.

Very impressive considering he didn't receive the assist for Inter's first of the night, as he put in the cross which led to the goal on 6 minutes. Was also on set pieces which is encouraging. At £1.18 he's very good value if he continues to play regularly.

Lautaro Martinez scored Inter's 2nd and assisted Lukaku for the 3rd, giving him a PB score of 191. Not too shabby! At £1.51 he's a bit too pricey for my liking, but should have a bit of transfer speculation this coming summer having been previously linked to Barcelona.

Hakimi got on the end of a good Lukaku cross but was marginally offside, meaning his goal was ruled out. PB of 163 with no goals or assists is very good and at £1.67 he is looking cheap for sure.

Romelu Lukaku has built a reputation for being a flat-track bully over the years and he proved why that is the case with the 3rd and 4th goals of the night. He capitalised on a goalkeeper error for the 3rd and netted the 4th after a neatly timed through ball from Alexis Sanchez. PB of 158 with 2 goals is not good, but experienced traders will know that Lukaku is not really built for PB. At £1.34 I'd only probably buy in as a long term hold in the lead up to the Euros, and even then I'd still prefer to look elsewhere.

Gael Kakuta [MID - RC Lens]

Kakuta is a player many will remember for his failed stint at Chelsea but he's certainly matured since then. I have been eyeing him for a while as he had an impressive start of the season and I just had to write about him today.

205 PB points after being taken off on the 72nd minute. And he scored a goal, which wasn't the winning one. He is 29 frikking pence! He was trading at around the 55p mark only 2 months ago! This screams bargain to me even with the removal of IPDs. Some of his other good scores include a 232 against Bordeaux and a 188 where he scored once and played 71 minutes.
I will admit however that the fact that he doesn't play the full 90 does make him slightly less appealing as an option but all it takes is another 200+ performance like today and he could be in with a shout of winning PB, even on a gold day. At the price he's at right now, the risk to me doesn't look very high.

      Juan Cuadrado [DEF – Juventus]

The Columbian defender who's becoming one of the more exciting holds on the platform scored 204 and placed 2nd in the PB scoring charts today.
He's a PB beast in this Juventus side and has truly made the right back position his own. Another 90 minutes locked in, another assist, 103 touches, 70 accurate passes (92.1% accurate), 7 crosses, 9 long balls (5 accurate) and 2 successful dribbles.

So what's not to like? The only concern is his age. At 32 he is getting on but I'm sure there will be multiple opportunities to sell on the rise as he will win dividends regularly as he has been demonstrating.

Even at £1.31 buy now I would be tempted to grab some shares. It was only a couple of weeks ago when I saw that he could be picked up for around 70p on bids. One of the top defenders you can invest in on the Index at this moment in time that's for sure.

That's it for Saturday's games I will make sure to post my analysis of Sunday's action tomorrow. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

    • RE: Messi

It's been a wild ride so far.

I hold 300 Messi so I'm obviously rooting for the City transfer but after reports of him leaning towards staying I'm gonna put some thoughts down...

      1. We've had a shit source called Tyc sports come out and say that he's likely to stay for a year and Messi's price tanked

      2. Achraf Ben Hayad who is supposedly Tier 1 for Barca has said that Messi is weighing up his options before making a final decision - https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/ilx44t/lionel_messi_faces_the_toughest_decision_many/

      3. Apparently MARCA says that Messi is staying. Yet MARCA is NOT reliable for Barca news. They are fairly reliable for Madrid clubs (Real and Atletico) but for Barca news they are shit tier.

      4. Alfredo Martinez, Marcelo Bechler and other credible outlets are silent on this which leads me to believe this thing still hangs in the balance.

      5. Messi's own father DIDN'T confirm that his son is studying the option of staying for another year at Barca.

Now, think about this whole thing from Messi's perspective. His club was dispatched by Bayern 8-2 in the UCL. By all accounts he is a competitive player and wants to challenge for the UCL. At 33 he knows he only has a few years left and Barca are unlikely to be competitive next season going by their transfer business and previous bottle jobs.

Suarez is apparently leaving, they've signed a 30 year old Pjanic, Vidal leaving, Rakitic gone. Those are a lot of experienced players.

Why would he decide to stay for another year with this team? They've had 3 embarrassing exits. That would be another year wasted for him imo. And at 33 the decline is around the corner. A year is too critical to lose if he wants to win another CL. If he was 28/29 it'd be more likely for him to wait imo.

Ultimately, he could join City who have a better squad and coach = better sporting project.

I just can't see why he'd stay even though he loves Barca. The club is an absolute shitshow.

If he stays then I'll just have to hold and hope the MB and PB keep chugging along as well as more speculation in January and next summer.

Edit: Marcelo Bechler now reporting that Messi still wants to leave - https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/im4eb1/marcelo_bechler_messi_still_wants_to_leave/

Hopefully the resolution comes soon enough.

It’s worth noting that the La Liga president went on Tv and said La Liga would not accept Neymars 222m release clause when he was off to PSG.

FIFA overruled them and gave Neymar the provisional transfer without the leagues input.

Obviously if Messi leaves La Liga loses so this guy is protecting his own interests.

So much drama in this thing tho lol

@MUFC said in The index is dead:

@Valhalla I don't think the people at the top have a fucking clue, just look at the email response you get when you have a complaint. Emailed earlier asking about my legal position in terms of the 3 year bet not being enforced, I has an email confirming they are not enforcing it, look at their t and c's and black and white it says your 3 year bet will expire at the 3 year point, talk about leaving yourself open to being taken looked into or getting your deposit value back which is what I am currently doing, I don't trust them one bit anymore, way to many it's, but's and maybe's on there terms and conditions for my liking

You do actually have a point here. Right now if someone was to look at the dividends that FI are saying people can win on their website, you’ll see that they’ve STILL got IPDs listed, and match day extra divs are nowhere to be seen on that page. Imagine the confusion for a beginner when they go on there and see IPDs there, they’d probably think they’d won some decent money with Messi’s performance tonight then they come on here and people tell them IPDs don’t exist anymore 😂

Can’t be arsed screenshotting it atm but checked it about 2 days ago and I just laughed when I saw that. If they can’t even be bothered to keep stuff like that up to date then you do wonder what goes on behind the scenes in management

    • Matchday Analysis - Saturday 27th February

I’m back with another round of weekend analysis! Wasn’t able to do last weeks one due to a house move. Will try to keep consistent.

Sunday’s analysis will be available for viewing at the Academy tomorrow.

      Sevilla [0] – Barcelona [2]

Ronald Koeman got one over Julen Lopetegui and I must say I was really impressed with the way the Dutchman set up his side in their convincing away win this weekend.

Barcelona have struggled this season against tougher opposition so it was refreshing to see a tactical switch that worked against a very astute manager.

They lined up in a 3-5-2 with Busquets at the base of midfield, with Dembele and Messi leading the line up front.

And it was Dembele who gave his team the lead on 28 minutes after being played through on goal by Messi. His composure in front of goal was much better today. Having watched him in the last couple of games I had noted he was very wasteful, often skying good chances that he should be burying.

He also had a decent opportunity in the 21st minute that Bounou saved after he was set loose by De Jong. He cut inside from the edge of the area and tried to place it in the corner but it was a comfortable save.

On the 60th minute he also squared the ball for Messi on the edge of the area after deceiving a Sevilla defender with a dummy near the halfway line.

Good performance from him today but I wouldn’t get too excited about his PB chances. He only recorded 162 points with the game winning goal, having played 82 minutes.

His PB potential isn’t terrible though, as he recorded a 148 with no goal involvements and only 80 minutes played against Cadiz on the 21st of February, along with a 141 against Elche on the 24thof January with only 74 minutes under his belt.

If he can continue to improve his end product and remain injury free then he will be a decent shout, especially because he offers width and pace which the other forwards apart from Brathwaite don’t really give.

At 79p on bids I’d still be looking elsewhere for the moment, particularly this season as Messi will still dominate the PB at Barcelona.

Not much needs to be said about Messi if I’m being perfectly honest. 220 points with a goal, an assist and a yellow card sums it all up. PB beast. He would have threatened star man here with a bit more luck. He assisted Lenglet from a wide free kick on 66 minutes but the defender was marginally offside, and he had a great chance himself that he sent into row z after great play from Dembele.

Sergino Dest was another player who had a decent game as he was afforded more protection in this system with Mingueza playing at the right side of a 3-man defence behind him. This allowed him to get forward with more frequency and he came close to scoring himself on 58 minutes with a powerful shot that hit the post.

He’s capable of decent PB scores when he gets the full 90:

      • 182 against Real Valladolid with an assist (22nd December 2020)

      • 152 against Levante with no goal involvements (13th December 2020)

46p highest bid at the moment is not too bad but I’d rather have Jordi Alba at 27p highest bid due to the security of starts and 90-minute games that he gets as well as his better PB game.

      Newcastle [1] – [1] Wolverhampton Wanderers

This game was quite an eventful one on both ends of the pitch.

Adama Traore had a great game here, registering a PB score of 179 with no goals or assists.

He had a staggering 19 dribble attempts, with 14 of those successful.
2 shots, 24 accurate passes (85.7%), 4 key passes, 5 crosses, 2 long balls and 1 big chance created.

I was really impressed with the consistency at which he was able to beat his man with a dribble as well as his creativity in central areas later on in the 2nd half.

He had a good opportunity to give his team the lead on 30 minutes with a back-post header that was saved by Dubravka after a good lofted cross by Neves.

On 33 minutes he was able to glide past Emile Krafth and then lay it back on the edge of the area for Pedro Neto who narrowly put the ball wide of the post.

He took on Krafth again on 41 minutes, this time providing a cross with the outside of his right foot for Neto who wasn’t able to convert.

Overall, he gave Wolves a good amount of width and penetration, with the Newcastle defence unable to handle him.

What’s quite funny is that 1 year ago Adama was priced at the £3.30 - £3.40 mark, especially around the time of his international call ups to the Spanish national team.

Right now, you can pick him up for 57p on bids. He’s approaching his prime years at 25 and may have another move to a bigger club in the future.

Decent shout at that price I feel.

Pedro Neto was also difficult to handle for Newcastle. He managed a 157 with an assist and is looking like a really decent PB player as I’ve highlighted his potential in a previous analysis.

At the end of the first half he beat his man to the by-line and put the ball across the face of goal with a low cross. Unfortunately, no one could connect with it.

It was a sign of things to come though.

On 72 minutes, Neto receives the ball on the right wing and beats Jamal Lewis on the outside with a stepover and stands the ball up for Neves who did really well to get a powerful header as the ball was slightly behind him.

And on 78 minutes, Neto does the same and succeeds, beating Lewis again on the outside but this time no one could connect at the back post.

Overall, he produced 4 shots today, with 4 dribble attempts (2 successful), 38 accurate passes (90.5%), 3 key passes, 8 crosses, 2 long balls and 1 big chance created

This past month his buy price has been fairly stable at the £1.70 - £1.80 mark and it makes sense why he commands such a price, particularly with his age and potential. At £1.50 highest bid I would hold off but would be more tempted at around £1.20 if I’m being honest.

      Bayern Munich [5] – [1] Koln

Another routine win for the German champs.

Niklas Sule has caught my eye though as he started this game at right back.

Now Bayern have recently been linked with Norwich City’s right back Max Aarons, and I get the sense that the Bouna Sarr just isn’t going to cut it for them so they’re looking at bolstering their options in that position.

With Pavard - who usually plays right back – out with injury – Sule looks like a decent short-term option at 77p buy now.

Sule has played the last 3 games at right back and has recorded scores of 63 (against Frankfurt), 154 (Lazio with UCL multiplier) and his most recent 175 against Koln, all with no goal involvements or clean sheet.

Granted the sample size is pretty small, but I see the potential for a PB win in the upcoming weeks if he continues to take on this right back role.

93 accurate passes (93.9%), 3 key passes, 4 dribble attempts, 3 crosses and 5 long balls (100% accuracy) are really good stats for a central defender who’s filling in at right back.

The signing of Upamecano also leaves his long-term future at Bayern in doubt. He’s coming off the back of an ACL injury which is never easy and hasn’t been at his best. With his deal at Bayern expiring next season, the Bavarians may look to cash in on him this summer if they envisage a strong likelihood of him leaving for free next year.

He’s had soft links to Chelsea and Manchester United as well so at 61p highest bid he doesn’t look too expensive as there’s the chance he may pick up media buzz in addition to the promise of PB.

Leon Goretzka bagged a hattrick of assists here but his 188 PB score tells you all you need to know about his chances of winning dividends any time soon.

Even at 60p highest bid I wouldn’t touch him. With Kimmich on set pieces for them and integral to the team I doubt he’ll manage more than a handful of wins over the next 3 seasons.

      Borussia Dortmund [3] – [0] Arminia Bielefeld

Jadon Sancho picked up star man with a massive score of 289 points.

He appears to be on some set pieces as he took a free kick from a wide position on 26 minutes. Reus couldn’t capitalise on the confusion in the box as his shot hit the bar after the ball fell kindly to him on the edge of the area.

Sancho wasn’t strictly on the left in this game as well, as on 32 minutes he found himself in space on the right wing and played a drilled low cross for Reyna. The American was only able to hit the side netting with his shot.

On 42 minutes, Sancho receives the ball on the left wing, runs directly at his man, after which he cuts inside on his right foot and lays the ball square for Dahoud who strikes it into the bottom corner.

He also looks to be firmly on penalties now ahead of Haaland as he converted from the spot on 56 minutes.

58 accurate passes (95.1%), 8 key passes, 7 crosses, 1 long ball, 2 shots on target and 2 dribble attempts here

Not bad for a player who’s supposedly poor at PB right?

I previously spoke about Sancho’s performance on the 30th of January, and I quote:

“For now, with 3 PB scores above 200 this year, it seems as though the performance tide may be turning. No doubt he is an insanely talented player at his age, but for him to sustain his £8.39 buy price at the time of writing, he's got to keep delivering on the matrix.”

His buy price has fallen since then to £7.02 and he can be picked up for £6.83 on bids. Since the 30th he’s had 2 lacklustre scores of 96 against Freiburg and Hoffenheim respectively, a decent 173 against Sevilla with an assist (includes multiplier) and a 237-score last week against Schalke with a goal and assist.

His base might not be the best in the world but, because he’s able to hit the peaks he is looking like a solid PB hold in addition to an MB one.

At the aforementioned £6.83 highest bid price he doesn’t look like a bad bet on the index at the moment. Granted there will be better value lower down the market, but the potential for capital appreciation with Sancho is huge.

As a little side note, Mahmoud Dahoud registered a 245 PB score with the game winning goal and came in 3rd place.

Playing at the base of a 3-man midfield he was able to dictate the play, accumulating 78 accurate passes (90.7%), 1 key pass, 4 dribbles (100% success rate) and 8/12 accurate long balls

Those are really good stats for a player that can be picked up for 21p on bids at the moment. The only issue appears to be his sporadic playing time, with him yet to complete 90 minutes this year. You’d have to go back to the 4th of November 2020 for his last full runout where he got a 179 score against Club Brugge in the Champions League.

Nonetheless, at 25 years old he’s one to keep an eye on at that price.

Anwar El Ghazi [MID – Aston Villa]

The Dutchman picked up 231 points with the game winning goal for Aston Villa in their tightly contested affair against Leeds.

I was monitoring his score and he had 156 points after only just 15 minutes, although that did include the game winning goal.

Another observation I’ve made is that he has a high conversion rate for key attacking actions. 3 out of the 5 shots he took today were on target. 4 successful crosses out of 6 and 2 successful dribbles out of 3.

So even though the volume of his positive on-pitch actions isn’t particularly high, it’s the success rate that he’s having with the actions that he’s able to carry out successfully that makes him a potent PB threat.

32p highest bid doesn’t sound like a steep price to pay. He’s still only 25; has won 28p in dividends already this season and will be pushing Ryan Babel for a place in the Euro squad, especially as he looks to be finding his way back into the Villa starting line up over Ross Barkley.

Borna Sosa [DEF - VfB Stuttgart]

Admittedly, Sosa is one of those players who wasn’t on my buying radar until this past weekend.

He claimed the 14p dividends for top defender with 2 assists and a score of 222 points.

Playing for promoted side Stuttgart in a left-wing back role, he’s able to put in lots of crosses which we know is an area which the matrix rewards if a player is able to pump them out in quantity.

25 accurate passes (67.6%), 5 key passes, 7/15 accurate crosses, 2 long balls and 1 big chance created

In fact, I’ve checked his stats for the last 8 games and he’s provided a total of 7 assists within that timeframe. Incredible to be quite honest.

He’s also still quite young at 23 years of age so as long as his team avoids relegation which they are on course to achieve with a mid-table finish, then he’s a very decent option.
Can be acquired for 50p on bids at this moment in time.

Marcel Halstenberg [DEF – RB Leipzig]

RB Leipzing under Nagelsmann are one of those sides that tend to rotate the playing personnel quite frequently.

Halstenberg has been unlucky this season in this regard, having only started and completed 2 out of the last 6 games in all competitions.

Angelino also took his spot at left wing back so it’s easy to see why his PB threat has been nerfed.

But he’s still got the quality as shown by his performance at left back in a 4-2-3-1 against Gladbach.

87 accurate passes (91.6%), 3 key passes, 8 crosses, 4 long balls and 2 dribble attempts

He managed 211 points overall with an assist and came in 2nd place on the day.

It’s difficult to predict whether he will remain in the line up but I don’t see why he shouldn’t be considered as an option at 27p on bids. He’s also still in with a shout of making the Euro’s squad having featured quite prominently in the qualifiers.

That's it for this weekend so I'll hopefully be back again next week!

@FootballArgos said in Matchday Analysis - Saturday 13th February:

@Index_Scholar thanks for the write up again. Will comment on a few aspects.

Man City midfield is particularly a tough one in conjunction with Pep roulette - I think perhaps better to focus on a talisman player at another team if you're going in the Rodri price range, e.g. Savanier, Parejo

Goalkeeper-wise, Bono over Ederson for sure, pound for pound although Ederson's not the worst hold with his propensity for clean sheets. Dmitrovic in La Liga has already set a precedent for a current GK to take penalties! Martinez perhaps over Ederson too.

Leverkusen's defence typically generates high average PB scores, it's actually a bit of a shame that Tapsoba was IPOd so high hence his relative lack of price fluctuation due to limited holders. Sevilla are similar in terms of high PB scores across the defence, I have been really tempted to get one of them but not sure which! Carlos seems like a decent bet though.

Yeah agree with you on Rodri. I’ve got some bids in for Savanier myself he’s quality

Didn’t even realise Dmitrovic has taken a penalty before decent shout

And yeah Tapsoba’s price puts me off but as a long term hold he looks good. Carlos is too cheap imo he’s won Pb before aswell

There’s so much value all over the shop atm, but have to agree with Stevo the Dex has become much more PB dividend centric as opposed to when there was traditional IS.

Isak has always been very highly rated but he’s gonna struggle to win divs unless he bangs in 3 in a game or something. Rather buy someone who can consistently challenge for PB that way when they win it you get the cap app that comes with it allowing you to sell on the spike if you wish

Yeah just seen that stacks of 870 one after the other lol

If I understand this correctly, FI are minting shares as low as 22p and effectively stopping people from selling by flooding the market.

If Lowton is Star man he earns 28p in dividends.

Anyone selling would loss their shares and the dividend. Anyone buying after 4pm wouldn't be eligible for the 28p.

So am I right in thinking that FI minting shares at 22p is actually ensuring that they have to pay out 28p on shares that might otherwise have been sold?

That sounds about right to me. Although I don’t think many would have shares in a player like Lowton anyway.

Messi has ended up winning star man so it’s gonna cost them more either way
