    • RE: Bring back media to top 200 ? Yes or No ?

No. Even though there's some short-term pain opening up MB to all was right for the index and for it's simplicity moving forward.

On another note, why shouldn't Lys Mousset be winning media today - he scored the winner in a 1-0 win against Arsenal and the should be the most talked about thing today and should get dividends. The bigger joke, if anything, is Pepe winning top forward in a 1-0 loss over Mousset who scored the decisive goal in the game but nobody has complained about that.

    • RE: The Mythical Matrix review (original thread title restored 😜)

@ScouseSte It's all noise - I'd say to anyone pay no attention to the noise. By all means read different views and sit back and form your own judgement but don't listen to certain people just cos they shout the loudest.
It's sad to say but the forum has become about he who shouts loudest and a few egos taking over. Some very good traders with balanced views have been contributing less and less - I'm sure through becoming sick and tired of the way the forum has gone.
Everybody has an agenda but some are shouting louder and pushing more - the smartest traders don't need to shout non-stop, they quietly go about their business and don't feel the need to brag non-stop. Stay smart people, be aware of potential changes but draw your own conclusion - the most profitable trades can often be through doing the opposite to everyone else.
P.S. As for game winning goal it will never go imo. It is the equivalent of 0 on a roulette wheel and is FI's edge - they need that element of randomness to prevent things becoming too predictable.

    • RE: Artificial market?

@Londoner Not sure I agree. Why does the phrase Football Stockmarket translate to long-term trading for you? There are plenty of short-term traders in most markets who co-exist alongside long-term traders - and in most of those markets most long-term traders wouldn't be checking their portfolios every hour.
The difference here is people say they're long term-traders and the world is ending at the first sign of red - that isn't long-term trading. I see absolutely no reason why the two can't co-exist but long-term traders need to do just that and ignore the daily/weekly peaks and troughs.

    • RE: Ways to improve FI and attract many more users..

If there was any money available for additional dividends then I would much rather see it allocated to PB than MB.
MB serves a purpose which is to provide good dividends on days when there is no football. On days where is football being played in a PB league then it is absolutely PB that should be the focus for dividends - and this is where I would channel any future increase. I would start by making a single, double and treble PB days be exactly that so 2p/1p on single day, 4p/2p on double day and 6p/3p on treble day for position/star man splits.

    • RE: Paul Pogba - Hold or Flog? What are you doing?

I've actually changed my view over the last few days. I was very much of the view that he was going this summer but I now believe it makes much more sense for all parties for a move to happen in 12 months time. These are my reasons for changing my view:

      1. Neither Real or Juve can really afford him this summer and will have more funds available in 12 months time.
      2. Without him I see no way of United finishing top 4 - for United it makes sense to agree with him give us 12 months of your best and we'll grant you your move.
      3. It gives United 12 months rather than 4 weeks to find the big name replacement the sponsors will want.

    • RE: Special Celebratory Announcement at 10am on Monday

Gee! We’ve had 3 months of bonuses and now FI are giving away £5000 and people are disappointed.
Whilst to the bigger traders it will seem like little to the masses of smaller traders the amounts will be significant.
FI didn’t have to do anything since we’re all getting a nice bonus next week anyway so I commend them for the effort mate here

    • RE: PB Advice

@ToffeeBlue Everyone looks at different things here. Personally the average is pretty much irrelevant to me as it isn't the average that will win PB but the high peak scores.
An average of 100 is pretty useless as far as im concerned if the player just has a load of scores between 90 and 110.
A perfect example on Footy Index Scout is TAA and Robertson.
Robertson has an overall average of 101 but has never won PB.
TAA has an overall average of 85 but has 6 PB wins.
Now look at their top 5 average and you will see why. TAA has a top 5 average of 217 and Robertson 178. Robertson is more consistent but never gets the peak scores good enough to win.
Key things to look for - players that take free kicks, corners and penalties, players that get a lot of possession and their team runs through them.

    • RE: Should dividends be a %

@Old-Man said in Should dividends be a %:

@RU99 please try to explain why not, just one reason would be good, thx.

      And @janner73 a % of the players price e.g. 300 Pogba, current price £7. If dividend was 0.1% then youd receive 0.1% x £7 x 300 = £2.10.

I feared that was what you meant. There are a number of potential problems I see with that:

      1. How do you determine the price? Their price on that day? If so what time on that day as we can see huge price fluctuations on a goal.
      2. Why should I get less as a monetary amount if I've researched that 40p gem and he finally wins a treble MB day than someone holding Neymar gets when he wins?

I think percentage CAN work if they are based on the size of the market, so as an example.

FOOTIE is between 100,000 and 150,000
PB is 6p,4p,2p (treble day, double day, single day)

FOOTIE is between 150,001 and 200,000
PB is 9p, 6p, 3p (treble day, double day, single day)

This would allow for dividends to rise and fall with the market without the need for FI to do a review, and would give everyone clarity as to when increases kick in.

    • RE: Turns out you can lose money...

@Neil2265 But if you're trading medium to long term why are you even worried about a 9p drop because he didn't start one game. I hear so many people saying they are long-term trading and then talking about drops on a day or last week. If you're trading long-term then that 9p drop is nothing when you're planning to hold, presumably, until at least next summer for a big transfer.
It's not an easy mindsight but if you're holding Aouar until next summer then the price in between now and then is basically meaningless unless there's a fundamental change in circumstances.

    • RE: Is anyone still awake?

It comes as no surprise that the people who missed them are up in arms. Releasing them at 10 am doesn't give equal chance either - those who work nights are sleeping, those who have a job and cant sit at a PC refreshing all day can't get on. But that's ok for those who can and make a killing. Random times, for me, is actually ok, it gives various groups of people opportunities each time there is an IPO release rather than the same group of people being at an advantage all the time.

    • RE: Not Making Money

I honestly believe if you have good holds then all that's needed is a little bit of patience. The market has a huge amount of room to grow right now but people don't have the money and so existing money is just moving around.
I truly believe this is the calm before the storm - it may well be the rest of the year a little like this but come January things are gonna start flying. Patience now will be rewarded soon.

    • RE: The resurrection of Pogba?

The reality is more than likely Pogba will have his day again.
6 months ago everyone was anti-Messi - he's too old, he won't win enough divs to cover capital depreciation etc etc. Fast forward today and many of the same people are now telling you what a great hold Messi is and how he's a dividend monster and age doesn't matters.
It's just as likely that in 6 months time the people that are saying Pogba is finished today will be the very ones telling you what a great hold he is again as his price rockets as United close in on winning the Europa League and Pogba prepares for Euro 2020.

    • RE: How do you factor in age into a price?

@Tom7471 I don't think the market does a good job of factoring in age at all - I think everyone thinks they won't be the one left holding at the end and can get out first on older players which of course everyone can't.
The way I look at age is through expected dividend yield. So on a younger player I'm fine with a 10% yield in divs but for someone over 30 I'm gonna want a 25-30% dividend yield maybe more if I think they only have a year or 2 left. So in simple terms the less time they have left in their career, the higher the dividend yield I would be wanting.

I held, not impressed with some of the gloating/ribbing I've seen on people who didn't though.

Spot on! The constant need to be right or being better than someone else isn't needed. I believed it was right to hold but I said numerous times we all have different situations, different tolerance to risk and all have to make our own decisions based on our personal situation and assessments.

Anyone who wants to gloat should go join the twitter brigade and their constant bickering.

    • RE: Top half dead, bottom half rising...Gap closing.

@Bruno-Xadas The biggest problem, and risk, with the lower end is there are traders sat on (tens of) thousands of futures just waiting to hit their target price. Many of these players have little value at present and in my view are already past the point where they are a reasonable gamble as to whether they will make it or not. Underlying value through dividends gives security in a hold even when the price is falling, as soon as the price starts falling in a player that has no underlying value then you're holding something worthless with a price falling quickly.
I won't single out individual players but the amount of non PB players priced like they're already in a PB league is ridiculous. Anyone joining the lower end now is pretty much joining too late in this cycle as its coming to an end soon.

Sold mine too, I will re invest once everyone has finished selling and his price is less than .60p. On Callum Wilson now for a short term hold

So the guy who was pumping him to be in the Euro 2020 squad sold him after one game - if anyone didn't think the claim was ridiculous beforehand then this is absolute proof that @Deano4dawin just wants to pump a price as high as possible and then dump.
If you remotely believed your own crap then you wouldn't sell at 90p!

    • RE: FI on Wikipedia

@Ericali It's easy for people to talk the long term game when everything is rocketing - when markets wobble it's amazing how people change.
I have read over the last 12 months so many people call this an investment - if it's an investment nowhere else would they be getting the returns they've been getting over the last 12 months.
The short-term worry is a gamblers worry and an even bigger worry for people who have more money in this than they really should.
I understand people's concerns and it's human nature to worry but the forum is becoming a depressing place to be on this past week with all the negativity. I see opportunities all over the market now and eventually those opportunities will be too good and money will fly into them.
We all have 3 options - remain a long term trader and ride out the dip (or even take advantage of the dips), temporarily switch to short-term trading like @Ericali and others, pull our money out altogether. The third option is not even remotely in my thoughts.

    • RE: 21st Sept (4th Year Anniversary)

@Pagey74 said in 21st Sept (4th Year Anniversary):

@Sol So you want to invest in something that has no risk?

We've had it too easy for too long. Because the product has been growing there has been virtually no risk and it's been impossible not to make money. People are having too work harder if they want the same returns they had previously.
Long-term trading is still fine but expectations on returns for this have to be lowered - we can no longer sit on any player for a year and expect their price to double. If people want the same returns then they actually have to take some risk and also trade a bit more.
The platform was never going to survive if everyone just long-term trades as sitting and holding makes FI no money. Everyone that has more divs earned than commission paid is a loss to FI so trading has to happen for FI to survive and with that comes more volatility and more risk.
The short-term traders should be embraced as they are providing FI the income to make the platform sustainable - and that will, at some point in the future, fund a dividend increase.
