I'd stick £1,000 into ten players.

RE: Seeking value elsewhere
Freddie Woodman - 0.28
Playing well at Swansea thus far. It looks as though they’re going to have a decent season so he’ll be putting himself in the shop window each week. His parent club, Newcastle are quite poor so could go down, which could see Dubravka, who is a good player, leave and Woodman get a chance. If Newcastle stay up, whoever the manager is next summer may have a toss up between Dubravka and Woodman. He’s also English, 22 years old and has been in the England youth set up for quite a while so could well get a call up in the next couple of years.
RE: Football Index for the rich to get richer?
The rich (e.g those who invest the most) will get richer because, we’ll, they’ve invested more heavily, so IPD’s and divs from PB and MB will be higher.
As a smaller investor, there’s definitely other ways to become profitable. I’m a smaller investor myself and I’ve concentrated at the bottom end of the market, specifically players under 60p and with a small spread and rises I’ve encountered have been quite significant. As a follower of Köln in Germany, I got on Jorge Mere at 33p, he’s now 48p, so a profit of 15p per share, for example.
RE: What do you think would happen to the index if we went into a recession?
Can’t see a recession having much of an effect on FI. Some won’t invest/invest as much, whereas others will likely invest more given the success of the Index thus far.
RE: Surprise packages (teams)
Everton have bought in a goalkeeper that’s only going to play in Cup competitions and Fabian Delph, I’m not sure how people can therefore tip them for a good season?
Personally think Marco Silva is a fraud and that they’ve still got the same frailties in defence they have had for a few years and looking at Silva’s records at Hull, Watford and now Everton, his inability to organise a defence is going to be a massive downfall. His sides cannot be trusted on the road either, only seven (three of those the relegated sides) won fewer away games last season.
Everton haven’t got a striker either and I’m not convinced that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the answer.
RE: Can Wolves be do a 'Leicester' this season ??
Can they win the league? Yes.
Will they win the league? No.
The jury is out on Wolves for me. With added games in the Europa League, I’m staying away from them until I can decipher if European Football is or isn’t having an effect on their form in the Premier League.
RE: Harvey Barnes
There’s a general belief around, not just in FI terms, that Leicester are going to have a good season, so there is potential, if it’s your thing, to ride this bandwagon before a ball has been kicked, because presumably if people think Leicester will do well, prices in their players will rise.
It’s not a strategy I use but I can see why it could/would work.
RE: Brewster Euro 2020 England Squad
@NewUser74389 u must have seen quite a bit of him playing have you, to hold that opinion?
Did he not impress you?
I haven’t seen anything of him, I’m just incredibly sceptical at this stage.
He’s a young lad who’s had over a year out injured, for a start. Age is on his side but he only returned to the awful standard of U23’s Football in April. That’s not much to go off for me. It’s a gargantuan step up from PL2 to Premier League/Champions League Football in my opinion.
He’s living off a tournament over two years ago, hasn’t played above U18 level Internationally, which again is enough to put me off at this stage.
He’s not played a single minute of competitive football at any professional level, has been on the bench a handful of times and nothing more, which again is enough to put me off.
There’s a hell of a hype for this lad on FI and personally, I think the more this hype is built up and built up, the better it is for FI users. Him playing and playing poorly, getting injured etc could damage his price and people’s investments. Granted, he may score a hat trick and go on and be the best English player in history but at this stage, he’s not at all attractive to me.
