    • RE: Reality and Hard Truth

I am a trader who has mainly dealt in the bottom end of the market making significant % gains from trading at the lower end.

Ignoring for the moment the rights and wrongs of FI withdrawing their own backed IS function.

For me we are once again seeing user momentum pushing back into the higher end of the market. Exactly the same as we saw with the share split and the dividend changes. The value of a player is no different today as it was pre ME. The only difference is the fear of not being able to get out of a trade. 3 years is a hell of a long time in football and if we a expect FI to continue to grow then there will be an inevitable stage where the lower end looks value again.

I am currently picking up IPD players at anywhere from 40-60% of their market value. Not in huge quantities I must say buy it's ticking me over.

I tried staring up a thread previously for buyers to name their purchase price but unfortunately it didn't pick up traction.

If you believe the bottom end players' IS prices are too low why not try selling a couple of your higher end players at market value and offer bids at the lower end. This is what I am currently doing.

Once again I am not picking sides on the right or wrong of FI and the change of terms. Just trying to spot an opportunity in the market.

    • RE: What drop did your port get at 4pm?

      @Dan-The-Man
I have to say I greatly agree with a lot that you say.
I am desperately disappointed with how FI have handled the OB delivery. This car crash of a drop in prices was completely avoidable.
I have been on the Index a long time and this is not written in panic. Given that dividends have near enough doubled there is no reason for players buy price to half in many cases.
Why on earth did FI not narrow the spreads during the down time before releasing order books. I’ll take Pogba as an example – There is so little liquidity at the moment for buying that it was inevitable that his buy price would race to the bottom and towards his IS price. If IS prices were increased, then the spread would have been smaller and less people would have been rushing to get out.
I know there is the argument that the buy price was ‘fictional’ previously and that it wasn’t an accurate reflection of actual price. My counter to this is, while indeed it has been proven to be true, this was the measure that FI were openly using, including in their notifications only yesterday.
Why does this drop matter, a large amount of people are expecting the shares to bounce back within the year. My first point to this is, if indeed we are expecting a bounce back, why do we need a drop in the first place. It does nothing but create resentment to a significant number of users. Secondly this is hideously negative publicity that really isn’t needed at the moment. I am not on twitter but I can only imagine the messages that are in the public domain.
I have seen users questioning what on earth is going on. While some people jump on them for not understanding the rules, it is vital to realise that their money is in the index and soon to be withdrawn, purely on this unnecessary drop in prices.
We have finally seen the full extent to users of FI removing the option to IS to the house. Again, I understand the long term necessity to reduce liability but this needed to be slowly phased out – not overnight cessation of an essential part of rules and strategy.
This seems to have been the perfect storm of FI ineptitude. I can’t imagine it was FI’s desire to have a crash across the market so you can only assume they didn’t see it coming, or they didn’t have the strategy to prevent it

    • RE: Messi

@NewUser122021 I think it's the same over-reactionary response as to why flocks of people flooded into him in the first place.

Any player, however good, at 33 is still a major gamble. Many people have bought into Messi doing the sums and have come to a conclusion that he is a good investment at his current price by estimating MB returns and PB returns against his depreciating value.

Others (the classic sheep of a football fan) has jumped on because everyone else is saying it's a great idea. These are the same people who bump up a price to oblivion and then make it crash on the other side.

A 33y/o at that price is/ was never in my strategy but can understand why people got involved at the beginning of the news. This will be a very interesting one to watch how the ME spread reacts.

    • RE: Some Ideas To Stimulate Buying

How much do people honestly think they need to stimulate growth. The issue at the moment is global financial insecurity, not how many pence is being paid out in MB.

8.25% bonus is miles better than anything you will find elsewhere yet people aren't putting money in.

If FI increase their dividends they are just giving away more money at a difficult time. It would be madness. As far as I'm aware the Footie has grown ever so slightly for the last 3/4 days. Let's keep it that way.

    • RE: Greenwood Crash

You never know, he may well play over 100 games for Man Utd, get capped for England and even score a few important goals and then he will shoot up in value.... oh actually that's Jesse lingard and he is already worth 50p more than him!! And I'm not even convinced Lingard is value for money!!

Great post and something I have been calling for a long time. FI mentioned an option to recycle on a recent comms so it is something that they are aware of.

I agree - pressure from the community will get this moving.

Lets see if a date is given in the upcoming communication and if not then we should all email FI for answers. Also whoever gets in to the trader panel should bring it up as well.

It is about time FI deliver on promises to developments and this is one that will really benefit everyone.

@Kill_Kenny fair enough. Great bit of research. Seems crazy not to put an offer on him though given his IS price is only 23p?

Can anyone explain the rise in Steven Berghuis yesterday? Kept seeing people buying him at full price on the ticker?

    • RE: Gabriel Barbosa

@Longmanlee he is the sort of player that prior to order books i would be jumping into at that price. But now there are so many cheap pb league players out there at the moment that these transfer rumour players seem much less appealing. I'm still sat on 5 or 6 pleayerts in this situation but have 2 years to get out of them.

    • RE: FI update

Amazing that £43m went into the index and it still tanked!! Just shows the difference in pricing mechanisms and how this order book system can swallow liquidity without making a blind bit of difference to prices. That said - it's a new system and will take some getting used to.

I think that is as close as a company can give to a decent apology for the last little bit so overall I'm fairly happy. Unfortunately no idea of specific dates and the recycle mechanism wasn't mentioned.

    • RE: New ticker status

Sorry this has just updated for me. Is there a way of knowing whether the transaction on the ticker was buy price or instant sell? Can't seem to see any difference. I liked when you could see the two as you could see if market sentiment was on the up or down.

Funny as this is the area that I have mostly bought into players over the years and this 50p-£1 market is the area where my players have taken the biggest pounding with monumental spreads!
