RE: Who Is Your Longest Hold?
My 3 longest holds, and first 3 buys around a year ago are:
Virgil van dyke 1.15 —> 2.97
Raheem sterling 2.59 —> 4.98
John stones 0.86 —> 0.87
VVD and sterling i have added to and increased average purchase price, but john stones (first day in the green today in 12 months), what an annoying hold, always slightly down, the only one of my first 50 or so that’s red.
List of improvements for FI (add yours)
Ok we all love FI but the platform can benefit from some improvements, here’s my suggestions:
Improved search options.
Player search is rather basic, why not add filters under an advanced search option such as, search by team, age, price , league etc....
Official FI forum presence
FI should imo have a representative on the forum, even just to clear up simple matters of ‘bonus terms’ etc, it also connects them better with there users and could probably save them plenty of emails to customer services.
Better portfolio stats.
An annoyance of mine is the rolling 7 day / 24hour stats. Can we please not have it reset every night at midnight, and weekly on a Sunday night.
Charts / graphs - being geeky here, but i would love to see graphs of my portfolio profits, pie charts of player positions / leagues etc...
Ok there on the way, but will be a great addition.
Feel free to add your own suggestions.
RE: Pump and dump
The ‘pump’ starts very quickly, take todays example Alan Browne,
Pump £thousands in @ 22p
Price quickly rises to 30p (first 900 shares cost £180 to raise him 1p).
Player gets on ‘trending’ list, other punters rush in ‘FOMO’ pumping further @ 30p, to raise price to 35p+
When price gets high enough, original pumper starts market selling, then IS .
As price has been also unwittingly pumped by those with FOMO he can now unload covering the spread / commission making a few p per share.
Thousands of shares at a few p profit adds up to a tidy sum.
RE: When will we see Man City WFC players on the Index?
Can’t see it working myself as a platform, lets face it were only interested in women’s football for a few weeks every 4 years for the World Cup (as England are still in it) . Never much in the way of media attention. League football has very little interest etc....
RE: When to sell
When i first joined FI and spent a couple of weeks familiarising myself with the platform my plan was to sell 50% after a player doubles in value. Thus playing with profit, and move onto the next player. However as i buy a lot of ‘young, unproven, promising’ players bigger gains were pretty common, and there is nothing more gutting than buying player X @ 25p selling @ 50p and watching his value go up to £1+ and wanting to buy more at that price.
So what i do now is ‘wait’ I don’t need the money right now, so continually monitor the players price, if the player stagnates or drops after 6 months then i evaluate the buy again as it probably hasn’t worked out as expected.
I also (see Alan Browne pump thread earlier) sell if there is a sudden spike, be it pump, rumour or overreaction , to buy again later.
My final advice would probably be, only sell if needed as my biggest mistakes have been in selling players too early.
RE: Alan Browne - Pump - Beware
I hold Browne but have no intention of getting out. Quality player, 24 yo and will sooner or later get a PL move. January in my opinion if PNE aren’t in the top 6 and as a PNE fan I’ll be gutted when he leaves.
I am a bit like Jon on this one, held a few shares since ipo (pne fan) but with no news on him have to consider this a pump, quality player but sold up due to the increase, will buy back later after the dump.
