    • 1000 days of FI

      Checked my spreadsheet this morning and it tells me today marks 1000 days of this journey. Here are some figures to show how I’ve progressed, feel free to ask any questions!

      First purchases 27/10/2017:
      2 x Aaron Ramsey @ £1 each
      2 x Wilfried Zaha @ £1.02 each
      1 x Alexis Sanchez @ £5.59

      That 1 Sanchez share netted me 61p in divs over 3 months and I was buzzing!

      First divs 24/11/2017:
      Mouctar Diakhaby - 1 share - 12p PB div. nearly had a heart attack in excitement

      First purchase of 10 or more shares 24/11/2017 (obviously inspired to make the big deposit after my Diakhaby dividend bonanza!):
      15 x Cedric Bakbu @£14.70

      First purchase of 100 shares 26/07/2018:
      100 x M’Baye Niang @£88

      First purchase of 300 shares 29/06/2019:
      300 x Kenny Tete (??) @£105

      Most spent on one purchase 27/02/2020:
      300 x Paul Pogba @£1,647

      Divs:
      £1 in divs after 2 months
      £10 in divs after 5 months
      £100 in divs after 9 months
      £1000 in divs after 2 years

      Currently just shy of 4K in divs and bonuses
      Net deposits = £4693
      Nominal port value = £16.7k (edited)

      Crazy to look back at all the weird and wonderful trades I’ve done. Half of them make no sense to me now!

      I’ve had so much fun and it’s saved me from traditional gambling which was ruining me.

      Forum has been delightful for the most part though I don’t visit as often as I used to.

      Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way.

      Onwards and upwards!

    • RE: Time Spent on FI

      I know the price of all 26 of my current players to the penny almost every minute that I am awake. I'm wasting time now writing this when I could be scrolling up and down and clicking refresh.

      @Stevo

      I don't think anyone in this thread is moaning. I'm certainly not. We're discussing where we think FI is at the moment. You've just come in and added nothing to a conversation.

    • RE: Cool heads, are you buying?

      Choosing to buy or not at the moment comes down to whether you think FI has a future or not. I think it does and the prices on offer right now are fantastic if you have that faith. My only issue has been deciding which bargain to go for. If FI is still here in 3 years I’ll have made a ton, if not I’ll probably scale the Shard dressed as Adam Cole with a big FI cape with a downward facing rocket on it and dive off.

    • RE: What could a No Deal Brexit do for the index?

      It's a well known (and possibly apocryphal ) fact that gambling thrives in times of economic crisis so if it goes tits up FI will benefit, if it doesn't, it will continue to thrive as it has been doing.

      As for the Brexit debate, my position has always been simple. Whether you voted leave or remain doesn't matter, we're one country, and you're all cunts.

      Are you free to join my pub quiz team on a Wednesday evening? Our geography guy can’t make it anymore and you’ve got the detailed knowledge we’ve been looking for.

    • RE: For any new traders out there just buy pogba

      @Dan-The-Man
      I really admire your anti-Pogba passion! I actually think you make some valid points but I would say you sometimes miss the point with Pogba, which is that he is a dividend GUARANTEE. You will get divs from him and they can be used to fund new purchases or be withdrawn. The comparisons you make are all retrospective. Of course there are better places you could have put your money 6 months ago, if you knew for certain that the cap app would outpace the divs. But you don't know, there is a risk a lower priced player will stagnate (less so in these boom times admittedly). If you can tell me that every sub £1 player you have invested in has been a TAA then fantastic, but that is not a typical experience. I know, because I do both. This is why diversifying makes sense, Pogba WILL return you cash, allowing you to take punts on those cheaper players. You mention cashing out at a loss above, but you wouldn't cash out Pogba because he'll keep returning you divs.

      Cap app is great, and so are divs. Why not do both if you can afford it?

      Massive money going into him. Big congrats to all who stuck with him throughout. Lesser congrats to slightly more cowardly folk such as myself who sold up in fear and then later bought back in.

    • RE: Dybala

      PREAMBLE: I sold all my CHO just after he surpassed Martial's price as I was gobsmacked that an unproven player could be more expensive than someone of Anthony's calibre. Cue a rocket up CHO's arse and a nosedive for Martial.

      TODAY: I have IS'd Martial at a loss and piled on Dybala.

      I post this as an apology in advance to other Dybala holders as I have almost certainly doomed the transfer with my cursed money.

      On the other hand, Martial holders can expect a startling uptick in the next 48 hours.

      @NewUser544991
      Your £30 is a good place to start. It’s hard to understand how it all works without playing with it so it’s a good idea to put a small amount in to dabble. The platform is going through uncertain times as well, so don’t commit larger sums till you are confident with the rules, how it all works, and with the company itself.

      If he’s getting 10 MB in a row I’m not selling but what you say isn’t even true, you could have bought him for just over £2 not long ago, got the divs and sold for £3 if you were that way inclined.

      I have to admit it’s been the most stressful period in my 3 odd years on here. Didn’t realise quite how much till it lifted. I would have gone down with the ship but luckily they’ve plugged the holes in the hull and we’re making headway again. Till they torpedo us again with another great idea

    • RE: How would you invest £300 right now?

      Personally I’m looking at players a quid and under who haven’t seen a rise yet. There’s still value all over the place down there. Recently picked up Guirassy around 50p, I can’t imagine him staying at that price all season. And Ashley Young at 15p seems a tad low as well.
      There’s been a big rise amongst the top end so would expect that to trickle down over time.

      @MickBohan
      When you buy the player set yourself a price you would be happy to get out at and be modest. If he hits it, sell, and onto the next one. That’s my plan anyway, executing it with discipline will be the tricky bit

    • RE: Best way to refresh shares without losing money

      I have very little experience of this but thought that as things have changed it might be worth adding the string to my bow. I suggest trying it out with a small fraction of your bankroll to get used to the fluctuations, see how a player comes in and out of favour. Dan has already pointed out that you can check the graphs so you can research without committing anything. I have started with a small stake in Vardy, had him for nearly a month and missed all the decent exit points so far. That’s the main problem for me, having to keep your eyes on his price to get the optimum exit, but there are obvious times when it’s key to be watching (game time, days leading up to good runs of fixtures). It’s been relatively interesting so far, and I can see how it could work.

    • RE: Messi sell price

      The lower bid you are seeing was placed but not matched when his price was lower at some point over the last couple of days. There are currently no bids within the range for his current price so the lower price is now showing as the highest bid. Hope that makes sense
