    • RE: Are you holding or cutting your losses

It’s really important for FI to redress the balance because at the moment we honestly may as well just have 20 elite players on the index and not bother with the rest . Out of the other 3000 odd players if they don’t rise with a goal, asssist, PB win or high score how can they ever rise??
I have had 4 PB Wins on players over a pound and up to £2.40 in last weeks and none of them have risen . In fact they have all fallen . Most unsaleable with the current spread . What is the point in doing the homework and graft to find these players if you can’t see a way they can at least give an escape route at some point . Because if they fall during and after a PB win what will they do if the next PB win is possibly months away . Answer tank .
The index will lose appeal if it just becomes about a few elite players with a race to the lowest price for the rest . I love the index and yes it’s about wining but also the buzz of picking out decent players and see them performing and winning PB . Then hopefully a little CA to help . I’m finding some of that buzz missing at the moment as lower down the market it seems a PB performance counts for little nowadays. Hopefully this is a phase .
But a worrying one as more and more people seem worried about buying outside the elite with the worry of an exit and little or no growth .
Some sort of super match day points promo could put some life back into the market especially outside the elite . Obviously sell orders will help to an extent too .
Really hoping for positives tonight from AC as I don’t think the healthy imbalance in the market at the moment is good . Especially when attracting new customers looking to invest 1k to 2k .

    • If we stick together we will come out STRONGER.

Yes worrying distressing times for us all.
In my six months on here I have always felt comfort in feeling in control of my destiny . Spotting the next trend or realising a mistake and easily being able to tweak my port to deal with any short term change to benifit meself . The feeling of security and total control has been total.
Now due to likely football shutdown for a period of anything between 3 to 6 months I feel I have very little control on a personal level . It has in a sense been taken away from me as an individual .
But as a group we are still in total control .
If as a group we sit tight relax and don’t panic by selling at crazy spreads we can together take back control and become stronger in the long run . It’s just a case of solidarity . I know there will be some that need these rainy day funds out of the platform but for most if we baton down the hatches for a few months we will come out the other side better and stronger .. we will I’m sure be rewarded as much as possible down the line.
We will look back and be glad we never panicked .
Come on fellow users let’s just sit this out and get through it . Let’s get control back in our hands .
You know it makes sense . We haven’t lost anything on any player until we sell . Onwards and upwards .

    • Will FI be forced into bringing in sell orders in the next week

The current fall on virtually all players is a concern and worry to me and many others .
I have sold nobody but been constantly topping up on cheap bids on my players as I believe in them .
But the market is so lopsided in favour of buyers FI risk losing many who will panic and sell up and maybe never return . I am showing 4K up on a 14k port but if I wanted to sell up today I would probably only be 1k up after loss on the selling and commission . Not healthy .
I can’t see things changing until they bring in sell orders to create liquidity and confidence back into the platform .
I don’t think they can wait another month as the damage to the platform could be irreparable .
I have a feeling we will see an announcement this week with selling engine announced to be running by month end . It’s needed and needed quickly .

    • RE: Marcus alonso

So here we are again with Marcus Alonso down to 69p . A player capable of winning MB and scoring or assisting .
I have just gone in as he has an early kick off on Saturday against Spurs .
Why would he play I hear you ask?
His record against Spurs with goals and assists is second to none.
He played at the reverse fixture and tormented Auriel throughout and won the pen that led to the second goal . He has a habit of popping with goals against Spurs in fact two at Wembley in Spurs fixture whilst WHL development . This fact won’t be lost by Frank I’m sure. So we have two scenarios .

He starts v Spurs and as early kick off probably rises at least 10p pre kick off . Likely to then start v Bayern as Cfc very likely to play a back 5 .
Less likely I believe he doesn’t start v Spurs or Bayern . We then have to wait for the inevitable transfer in the summer to Inter . Which I believe would shoot him to over a pound .
He is 29 a class act suited to PB matrix as a wing back and although unlikely to make the euro squad a Spanish international . Surely at 69p this is low risk trade with a potential big up and poss IPD to boot . A pump . I suppose so but I’ve gone in at the price and look forward to the team sheet at 11.30 am Saturday

@JonesyFI-WH said in Are you holding or cutting your losses:

@Yellow I hope you're right mate. Though in FI's interest YOU HAVE to be right. If it continues that Football Index doesn't actually equate to anything that happens on the Football pitch then I'm sure loads will lose interest and bail and new users will find out quickly unless they have indisposable income to chuck at the top end it's practically a waste of time.

Just hope the Adam Cole Q&A wont be a back slapping exercise about how fantastic the ME is and how its revolutionised the product, but be just as much about what many have been discussing and people's worries. Can only be in FI's interests that they settle the nerves of some of the old guard here.

Agree entirely about the Q&A. I'm sure Adam Cole is doing it as he has something worth saying. He'll know that anything he does say will be dissected numerous times over so he'll need to pick his words carefully.

I have said all along that my hope is that FI take dividends to the next level. I presume they feel the market is mature enough and has enough liquidity for them to now step back, and one big benefit from the introduction of order books is that FI no longer have to keep a cash balance for buying back from traders. This should mean they are able to offer much more generous dividends, which in turn would drag the lower end up as people will quickly see that a couple of PB wins equates to a very good % yield on certain players.

Yes ultimately this is the answer .
And once they are coining in 4% on every trade through the order book system they should have decent cash flow to be able to reward traders .
      That’s my hope anyway .

    • How do you all value your port?

      Good morning .
Been thinking long and hard on this . Do we value our port as FI on the market buy price or do we value our port on the IS price . Or somewhere in between . It’s very easy to boast huge profits by assuming if we sold up tomorrow we would achieve the market sell price . I hold 50 players and would probably only get market sell price on 2 or 3 in the short term . On average I think I would achieve around 10% less if I was to sell up over say a week . Add the 2% commission and I would be around 12% less in profit than FI tell me. I think this may be less once we can place sell orders in the system and may nearly half the figure to around 5% plus 2% comm so about 7% .
How do other traders value their port?
As I say it’s easy to boast huge ROI but it’s not profit until we sell . Your thoughts be much appreciated . Cheers

FIG listen to both your podcasts weekly and you have a decent level of banter and serious stuff .
Tiny bit heavy in the banter but hey ho.
Wish you would commit a little more time to discussing individual players and current trend patterns . Not looking for pumps but just discussions on certain on trend or off trend players be great . At the end of the day that’s what we all make or lose our money on .
Maybe a player of the week feature be a good edition to the pod with Panda on a Thursday .
I understand you don’t want to be seen as pumping players but basically it is the players that make the index . No harm in highlighting some apart from Sancho .
Anyway I love listening but hopefully you can take on board some of my comments .
Thanks again for the casts. Be lost without them

    • RE: Kepa

@London-Is-Blue decent points although at the moment I don’t think he would command more than a 20 mill transfer fee let alone 52mill.
That apart my main point from all of this was that he is a good punt at 50p with low risk and it seems you agree with me .
I don’t care what happens to him and where that is I just see it as an opportunity to make money . An opportunity I have taken . Onwards and upwards .

    • RE: Kepa

@London-Is-Blue welcome to your opinion Sir.
I don’t think we talking a full time coaching role here maybe some time spent each week . It is very much in Chelsea’s interest for Kepa to get things right . Unlikely at moment to be at CHELSEA but when you are talking about basically throwing 70 mill down the drain I’m sure it’s in the clubs interest to be sure they are making the correct decision . In this case the decision may become a financial one . My point here is it makes much sense for Kepa to be at least tried in the few pre season games to see what happens . I don’t think Roman will be pressured to spend another 50 mill on a keeper who may or may not be better.
Yes Kepa has a horrid season as did plenty of other defensive players . I don’t know if Cfc have real intentions of giving him another go . But as time moves on they may run out of options in the short term anyway .
My main point is whatever happens it’s highly likely Kepa will be playing first team football in a PB league next season and at 50p and very young I think it’s a very good low risk trade .

    • RE: Kepa

@London-Is-Blue The old story . Got this info from a friend of Jody Morris who has informed him Petr thinks he can help Kepa. May be rubbish but could be some truth in it . If the director of football can save the club 70 mill who knows .
Regardless of this I can’t see a downside at a sub 50p buy of Kepa. It was also reported on some CHELSEA forums this week too .
The points is as long as Kepa remains in a PB league he is worth substantially more than 50p .

    • RE: Kepa

Starting to look like Kepa going to be given another chance at Chelsea. With Petr coming in to coach . Seems very logical unless Cfc want to throw 70 odd million away . With two new defenders and the right coaching he could become what he needs to be . The 50p bid price could look a steel in a few weeks if he starts first game .
Yes I hold and yes I will be topping up .
