    • RE: Why no announcement?

Another "stocks go down as well as up" moaning thread started again....

Why do you think FI owe us an announcement? They haven't given any indication of a bonus or any other birthday offer so they can tell us, if applicable, when it suits them.

Yes the Footy dropped a lot yesterday and being a Monday it will probably drop again. Time to top up on value players if you believe in the longevity of the product.

    • Seeing value in Centre Backs?

I have been looking for value after the transfer window. The obvious risers will be Champions League, Europa and Euro 2020. Hopefully you will be on those players already. Longer term my recommendation is centre backs for the following reasons:

      1. As the season draws on and games become more important I can see full backs not being as attacking. That will help negate the overpowered crosses on the current matrix.

      2. Recent games have started to see more centre back goals which have been lacking this season. Van Dijk and Lejeune spring to mind. Diego Carlos at Seville scored back to back goals recently. Varane got a brace for Real Madrid recently and won dividends too.

      3. I have looked at defender yields this season and whilst there are more full backs in the top 28 defenders on index gain it is surprisingly even. Players over 50p is 15 FB to 13 CB so nearly half. At players over £1 it is still 15 FB to 12 CB. I didn’t scroll down any further. I am happy to provide screenshots.

      4. Centre Backs have largely remained unchanged in price all season and some quality internationals such as Tah, Akanji and Marquinhos are down. This is due to the revised matrix this season. Quality Centre Backs in PB leagues still involved in European competition and Euro 2020 can be bought for less than £1.

      5. Football Index have been suggesting team of the week or month bonuses .Adam Cole certainly mentioned it regarding rewarding long term performance. Whilst the format is unknown this weeks team of the week contained 2 centre backs so with 4 defenders potentially winning dividends then there is a better chance for centre backs to win.

      6. The feeling with the current matrix is that crosses are to important which is why full backs have gone up so much. My gut feeling is that the matrix will be tweaked after Euro 2020 in good time for the new season and that it will be beneficial for centre backs and goals scorers such as Haaland, Aguero and Acardi who don’t get to involved in build up play. FI love volatility and a new PB matrix will help.

      @Andy-M said in Unstable times:

I've previously put posts trying to encourage Newbies not to panic, but let's be real here, if I'd have joined recently and bought the portfolio I currently hold, I'd be shitting my pants now, we're talking about inexperienced traders, but I put a lot of blame into experienced traders too, they're doing absolutely nothing wrong because they're breaking no rules, but taking out funds in anticipation and causing huge price falls is destined to cause panic among the newer traders.
This is where we see the huge difference between investment and gambling, we seriously need FI to get this damn announcement out of the way, and possibly stop this way of announcing things, they're a business i get that, and they're absolutely loving the commission right now, but do they not want this to be long term too ?? Rule no1 .. keep new traders intrested.

Good post as always Andy. I have looked at my spreadsheet and since my portfolio reached its high on 30th March it has lost £700. Seems a lot. However, I am lucky to have a good size portfolio. The percentage drop is 2.27%. So just over the 2% that FI would have taken as commission if I had market sold at the top.

However, people are panicking and instant selling at wide spreads and paying the 2%. Why? Dividends are up. User numbers are up. An exciting announcement to come on 15th April. A summer of triple media buzz and tournaments in Africa, South America and U21s.

STOP PANICKING and enjoy the opportunity to pick up some bargains otherwise I fear FI is not the platform for you.

    • Gone In Balls Deep

So I had a week off this week and this has coincided with a matured investment and the Share Split next week.
Now the investment was originally going to pay off a loan costing £170 per month, however I have decided to go in “balls deep” this week and have invested £17,000 in the index. My portfolio at the end of February was £1,762. My last 3 months % growth had been 12.63% in December, 28.53% in January and 7.14% in February. March YTD is 17.76% but that includes some good trades on Monday evening after the announcement. All dividends are reinvested.
My portfolio value is £19,192 which needs to generate £2,040 per annum to meet the continued loan repayments. Therefore it needs to generate a yield of 10.63% hopefully from dividends. Capital appreciation should occur via the impending split, continued growth of the forum and my football knowledge (all being well)
Obviously investing £17,000 requires a strategy so I have spent the week analysing player performance, yields, average and top PB scores and prices compared to previous peaks to try and find value. Since December, I have prioritised MB players which has paid dividends so I have continued with that strategy for now. Any IPDs are an unexpected bonus. Therefore, I have looked at players who are gathering rumours about summer 2019 transfers as I think it will be a huge summer with no major European tournament. UEFA also increased prize money massively this season so dropping out of Europe is more costly than ever. Lastly, I have also looked at players whose contracts expire in 2020 and 2021 who are hopefully more likely to generate rumours regarding transfers.
I have split my portfolio into 4 categories and any thoughts or feedback are welcome. Hopefully this is not considered the biggest pump ever as I am not wanting to dump any. However, every player has a price and will be traded once the dust settles next week.

@Gazz127 - mate I love it. Had a week off without the family to do some proper research pre SS and I have ended up investing £20k. Wife doesn't know yet. Her car broke down last week and we got £3k for parts etc and she thinks that is being bonkers putting that in. Tried to explain this will be the biggest week the Index has ever know and she just rolled her eyes and mumbled something about shoes....

Good news - there is no queue as they started selling right away on Friday.

Bad news - I am selling, on average, 3 futures a day 😴😴😴😴

Are you worried about Paqueta joining a non PB league?

      @Westy

Good article and site looking good.

I broke my own rules and made a 15k deposit yesterday (my last deposit was October and meant to be my last) and had a 30 minute spending spree. Spent the lot on PB players, plus one cheap promotion hopeful, and not an out and out MB player amongst them.

So much value in the PB players. Short term with 8.25% bonus, mid term most should see at least 25% CA in the next 6 months and long term with Euro 21 and a winter World Cup 22.

      Keep up the good work...

I saw you on the ticker at that time and was nodding in appreciation at your choices of players as I own a fair few. Good luck with your investment.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I can finally access the forum through the new website now as I had some technical issues that FI have fixed.

I actually think centre backs are ideal for the new promotion. Rotated and substituted less than other players for example.

I have topped up some more on Skriniar, Tah, Diego Carlos and Kimpembe as they all have 7 games in February and the fixtures don't look too bad. No point buying for a quick flip but worthwhile as part of a longer term purchase.

@FIGenesis you still think fekir is a decent investment? Holding at a big loss and was expecting him to do well at betis...but has had no rise as of yet.

I got excited when he scored a GWG last game and he got a PB of 190 but no movement. Hopefully the players who moved clubs are starting to settle (Skov last night) and we will see some big scores soon.

I sold Zaniolo as he doesn't seem to cut it with the new PB matrix. He has been nowhere near winning it despite getting GWG recently.

I hold the other 3 and Pulgar seems the best at getting top PB scores currently.

Hasn't he missed the highest amount of big chances in Europe's top 5 leagues which will hurt his PB. I suppose you could say he could convert those 1 game and win a 16p dividend but his PB performance has always been poor and Athletico aren't exactly known as a PB team I'm afraid so not for me.
